I know a lot of people swear by the unique collector car insurance companies like Hagerty, but I just have insurance through Safeco and do stated value policies there. They have zero restrictions on the use of the car, and so the “limit” on the car is only on the payout amount.

I want to point out this isn’t quite true. The warranty stays intact for CPO buyers also. So yes, private party and non-CPO used sales see a shrink of the warranty period, but its also not quite true that its for the original owner only and that all used cars lose the warranty. Its called “gap insurance”... Insurance pays the value of the car, not whats owed on the loan. You buy gap insurance to cover the difference.

I disagree. We had the government steal our property to turn it into a park. They paid us “fair compensation” which was about 1/10 what it would get on the open market.
