I know a lot of people swear by the unique collector car insurance companies like Hagerty, but I just have insurance through Safeco and do stated value policies there. They have zero restrictions on the use of the car, and so the “limit” on the car is only on the payout amount.

I concur, which is exactly why I stated in my second paragraph:
“IF you can’t afford the car you bought, and you choose to finance above and beyond your ability to walk away from it/write a check from it, then I agree that GAP insurance is essential. Otherwise your taking on a liability for which you cannot pay off,

Bailey Belcher, 19, was driving home from work in a Soul owned by his mother

*NOT QUITE*

I want to point out this isn’t quite true. The warranty stays intact for CPO buyers also. So yes, private party and non-CPO used sales see a shrink of the warranty period, but its also not quite true that its for the original owner only and that all used cars lose the warranty. CPO are the exception!

Your “if” is really important there.

The smart thing to do is not buy any car you can’t comfortable write a check for. Maybe you get a loan because interest rates are killer (IE- When I bought my car I got 0.9% financing, so even though I was ready to pay cash I took the financing anyway to reinvest), but you should be

Kia does have something to do with it...

When you buy a car with a WARRANTY, the WARRANTY covers defects in manufacturing.

It would be within reason that CATCHING ON FIRE is a defect in manufacturing. Sure it could be something else (maybe they were drying their clothes under the hood, or they forgot to put oil in it,

I think the idea is if you have financial literacy you won’t be screwed without money.

Case in point: No one needs to get an underwater loan for a relatively new kia, when you can buy a perfectly good used car for quite a bit less.

what keeps poor people poor is typically the lack of financial literacy, therefore

Integrity? ehh... its for suckers.

This is just about the worst advice I ever heard.

Maybe if this was a 27 million dollar apartment complex, but over a $6000 kia? haha. How about you don’t destroy the rest of your life for a few thousand bucks?

Its called “gap insurance”... Insurance pays the value of the car, not whats owed on the loan. You buy gap insurance to cover the difference.

If you are buying a car you can’t afford to lose, you sure as hell better also be buying gap insurance...

I know this is an old thread, but I’m a hardcore jalop and on the cusp of buying a Dodge Journey... Oh My! Reading this thread makes me think I may be making a mistake.

We need a 7 seater. My wife wants AWD for our boat at the boat ramp, sunroof, heated seats, and leather. She primarily drives the kids to school and

One other option that no one mentioned is maybe that was true.. it is possible that the fuel economy numbers were based on a RWD?

I mean thats a stretch, but theoretically possible.

By attention you mean just deleting them from the lineup all together, right?

Brits are more american than italians!

The Brodozer Ram movement and jeep mallrated movement were so successful, FCA decided it needed to make the entire line of vehicles more manley.

shhhhh... I’ve had mine for a number of years too and have no interest in selling, but I almost talked myself into a corvette or a 911 like most others in my situation do....

Really though, you might decide youll want to keep it, but even if practicality wins out, its better to buy it and return to practicality later

I disagree. We had the government steal our property to turn it into a park. They paid us “fair compensation” which was about 1/10 what it would get on the open market.

I used to think eminent domain was for things like highways, but why did they decide our property had to be the stupid park?

A think a 4 Cylinder fits into ferrari PERFECTLY.

Enzo Ferrari always made a big point of putting performance ahead of all else. If a 4 cylinder can outperform a V8 because of some future tech... then I welcome my ferrari being outfit with a 4 cylinder!

That’s actually the real reason for the electricity..

to broadcast a V8 ferrari sound over the 4 cylinder.

Buy a ferrari and a 911.

I know a whole lot of people who bought 911s because Ferraris are not practical. then for the rest of their lives they explain to everyone that they didn’t buy the ferrari because it wasn’t practical.

In other words, they really wanted the ferrari, and then spend the rest of their life
