It definitely could. Wouldn't even he a difficult argument to make.

Do you know of any good examples of a CVT?

Re: they key difference. How do you know wether something is a good idea that's poorly executed or an idea that sounds good but isn't? With the case of the rotary the only reason we've accepted it is a "bad" idea is because no one has manager to "fix" it. Similarly I haven't seen a single CVT that was better than the

Raw numbers don't matter. If there is a single accident where some dies due to a computer glitch the media will have a heyday. At the end of the day we all like to feel like we are good/safe drivers, therefore all the deaths we hear about would never apply to us. However the second some one hears there is a chance

Can you give an example of a performance CVT? I've driven a B7 A4 with a CVT and compared Quattro version with I am guessing a ZF it was terrible.

"If executed correctly".

"A ____ is a great idea that could be truly awesome if used right. Ideally something like ____ would be amazing for most things... Properly executed..."

Now playing

I agree with what tome said. The picture in that post even shows an old vanquish which had that exact type of transmission. The idea of having manual transmission where a servo controlled the clutch, ergo it's faster and more efficient, sounds great. Until you try parking one. Example:

Depends heavily on the state. In CA there is no excessive acceleration laws, however it's possible they could try to get you for exhibition of speed. However without tire screeching or burn outs / etc it probably wouldn't stick in court.

The real sad part is that people are such ass holes we need a disincentive to prevent it.

"Keep it in that 200-300HP sweet spot and keep it honest, Audi.1"

From what I've heard the 7-speed manual in the 991 is actually not a very nice gearbox... at least when compared to the 6-speed in the 997. I think some one at jalopnik or drive even said they think they're making the manual gearbox shitty on purpose so people are more inclined to buy the PDK.

And similarly no potential A5 buyer is going to give one shit about Hyundai.... They need to just keep making good cars and earn the image they deserve.

Also sorry, just realized you already corrected yourself! :(

No, you're talking about the "Genesis sedan" not the "Genesis coupe". The coupe is the one pictured and is only offered in a turbo 4 or V6 currently. Same name but very different cars:

Very interesting, thanks for the response!

The video seems to suggest that you can't since it's not all transparent.

Yeah, I completely agree. According to wikipedia:

Right, so you're talking about $10k over the M235i in both markets. I think that as a collector car that you occasionally drive the 1M is a better choice. Idk about as a daily driver though.

Clearly Maserati, AMG, Aston, Abarth, Porsche, and Jaguar never got any notice of these "BS govt laws" you're speaking of. Those companies all make very loud stock cars. Yet somehow only BMW needs to play .wav files over the speakers....?
