what is it, bad take day here on kotaku?

I don’t think the system is going to change thanks to protesting or activism as we know it, didn’t mean to imply that.

I mean sure, why not both. But the idea that shaming will work is some liberal pipe dream, and the way articles like this frame the problem as one of individual corporations making individual bad choices obscures the root problem - it’s just like trying to shame people into not using plastic straws to save the

This person gets it.

This is why we need stronger labor laws, not trying to “shame” corporations into doing better. We need strong unions. We need strikes. We need actual, legal change to force their hands. Capitalism will extract all the value out of a worker’s labor it can, and must be reigned in by a strong legal framework that

thanks for the info!

That’s not how it works. An inefficiently coded game (or say one made for ps4 that doesn’t take advantage of the architecture of the ps5) could absolutely push the fan to its max without actually utilizing the hardware to its fullest potential. The ps5 is simply quieter than the prior console, full stop.

I’m wondering if those of us with an original PS5 could benefit by swapping out the fan for the newer fan, or if the revised fan only works with the revised hardware. Not that I’ve even thought about it - compared to the ps3 and especially ps4, the 5 is whisper quiet.

I just keep hearing more and more great things about this. So happy they’re really reaching out and doing something different than their (obviously super good and successful) soulsborne formula. Here’s hoping it doesn’t get delayed too long!

The ziplines are a reward for the challenge of having to set them up in the first place, no? I was 60+ hours deep in the game by the time I started covering the mountainous parts of the map with those things, and was grateful - it was another tier of progress where you increasingly conquer more difficult terrain and

The plot actually makes plenty of sense. It’s extremely weird, of course, but it does make sense and sticks to its own internal logic.

Honestly, having a 4k tv finally is exactly why I’m glad I got a ps5 at launch. Even regular blurays get a nice upres to 4k and it looks much better than running the same movie through a ps4 into the tv, but moreover now I have access to 4k blurays, which look spectacular. But still, if I didn’t own a 4k tv, this

Honestly getting the look right is the easiest part of this adaptation, even if the animated original did things that would cost hundreds of millions to do with decent cgi in live action. I’m curious about the tone and how they can hope to balance that sense of despair, sardonic humor, slapstick, occasional high-concep

The original is entirely beholden to its medium for how it looks and feels. I can’t imagine even a single episode of this being done without either megabudget sets or massive amounts of cgi. Mostly though, I just don’t see how its visual style will translate to live action because so much of it was so far from reality

Social media went through the same contortions in the 2016 and 2020 Democratic primaries when people discovered that Bernie Sanders owned more than one home. He lost the nomination both times and, low-and-behold, years later, nobody actually cares.

I love this comment, both for the self awareness and the fact that you’re spot on. I’ve never owned an xbox console but I treasure my experiences playing Halo games with friends who do own one - it’s the only way I’ve ever played the game and I always thought that was so unique and cool, something I wished more great

Which are your favorite Kurosawa samurai films? I want to ask the author of this article too, because it seemed like such a flippant take that someone who isn’t familiar with Kurosawa would make. Of course a black & white filter on a modern open world video game isn’t going to transform it into Hidden Fortress or

I did. It’s made by an English speaking development studio with English dialogue and faces that sync to it pretty darn well for a video game. Switching it to a dubbed language that doesn’t match up and then reading subtitles... THAT is immersion breaking.

Platinuming most games is a headache and total waste of time. It’s like hey, you know this game you’re enjoying for the gameplay and story? How about we turn it into a chore once you’ve finished the story so you can get a digital trophy!

It’s a competently made open-world action game with a strong aesthetic. Nothing more, nothing less.
