Preparing for demand does not mean everyone can go out and get one in any major city on launch day without having preordered, obviously. That’s not how it is with console launches, not for popular consoles anyway, and certainly not for a company far smaller than Sony and Microsoft. In my home town and reportedly many

That smoothing option worked great for Minish Cap, made it look like an SNES game. If I recall correctly it didn’t suit every game, but certain ones benefited from it. Completely agree about those Zelda remakes, that was exactly the right approach to take with those. It would be really nice to see Mario 64 get the

Depending on where you live you could very well do so. This is not the NES Classic, they’ve come prepared for the demand this time.

The 20th Anniversary Edition is available on a whole lot of platforms and would seem like a much better option than the SNES port.

All Stars was re-released on the Wii as part of an anniversary, if you have a Wii or Wii U to play it on that might be easier to track down.

Agreed, DKC’s graphics don’t hold up very well. You have the same problem with a game like Mario Kart 64: playing it on the Wii U the 2D character and kart models in the 3D environment don’t really work on a modern screen, it looks like you’re playing a particularly ugly Paper Mario Kart. If they end up doing N64

Hey, that’s great to hear! I wasn’t expecting it to hold up at all, looking forward to checking it and the sequel out now.

As I understand it the Switch could actually pull off Skyward Sword without a hitch as the joycons can replicate Motion Plus functionality. All it lacks to be fully back-compatible with wiimote motion controls is the sensor bar, which SS didn’t use.

Nintendo should be worse at this than its competitors, Sony and Microsoft are much bigger companies whose resources far exceed those of Nintendo. This is the whole reason they opted out of the system specs arms race.

I suspect we will see Mario Maker on the Switch at some point, provided they can make it work well enough to not feel like a significant downgrade from the Wii U original (the system seemed tailor-made for it). I’m not sure how well a non-stylus solution would work, and of course a Wii U/3DS type stylus wouldn’t work

If you’re up for dropping a few more dollars Nyko and 8Bitdo have already announced wireless controllers.

Yeah I have no opinion on the film as I haven’t seen it yet, but Cameron is being an ass regardless of its quality.

I just found out that my reserved machine is in, and I don’t know about you but I’m so looking forward to finally playing the proper, original SFX-2 version of Yoshi’s Island, which hasn’t been legally available since the original SNES release. I didn’t want my first playthrough to be that downgraded GBA port, so I’m

... followed by outlets like the AV Club giving ITV attention for giving him attention, leading to all the more attention for Seagal. I wouldn’t know if the guy was still alive if it wasn’t for articles like this one.

It’s about much, much more than ad blockers, which I am not against at all when sites become borderline unusable without them like the AV Club did years ago. Some of it has to do with how ownership and management is structured in the internet economy, but in the end what it all leads to is sites dumbing and watering

According to someone who knows this stuff much better than me the AV Club and other comparable sites are engaged in a race to the bottom due to how the internet economy is evolving. It’s a sad thing to witness.

Most of us don’t know how that stuff works and can’t be bothered to find out. This thing is plug and play on my TV. Also, many of us prefer to do these things legally.

Ah, Superman: Flyby (I guess they felt the title needed to reflect the stupidity of the script). It also had high school Clark using his x-ray vision to ogle girls in the locker room shower. WB’s struggles with Superman post-Donner would be worthy of an epic documentary. There’s currently one about the Tim

I can’t blame him for being ugly but I can blame him for that beard.

Very glad to see the good turnout here, and that the discourse is as polite and positive as ever (and if it gets invaded once it hits the main page we’re probably mostly done here anyway, with KG right around the corner). This kind of environment for discussing video games is very rare, cheers to all of you for your
