I don’t doubt the SV650 could manage 130mph - Indicated...but still must’ve been wringing it out for a while to get there...

Early 80's Porsche 930 Turbo. When I was in college (mid-1990's), I worked at a tire shop in Seattle. After putting a full set of new Bridgestone performance tires on the little German sports car, I had to take it around the block as we did with all cars we worked on (ostensibly to insure the wheels didn’t fall off or…
I’m not part of the “Loud Pipes Save Lives” set. I think that is a big reason for the negative perception of motorcyclists. I, too, get annoyed by the thundering din of a slow cruiser with straight pipes rattling my windows as it rides by my house like a tractor in a parade.
I get that this is more about robotics, and it’s not really a “Self-driving” motorcycle... but the satirical marketing messages practically write themselves! “All the fun of buying a motorcycle without the danger and inconvenience of having to actually ride one.”
I thought it was depicting the result of generations of inbreeding.
Initial thought, mid-Engine, RWD Fiat 500 Abarth?! (Closes eyes, envisions the entire chassis twisting up like rotini pasta around the drive train)...Hmmm
There have been more than a handful of times on my motorcycle that overly-polite people have tried to waive me through without being aware of the traffic around them. The last time when I sat there shaking my head, “no,” the guy got pissed and pulled out right into the oncoming car that I was avoiding. I wish I was a…
When I first saw this I thought, “Wow, It’d be like having an original Mini with a more reliable, Japanese electrical system!” Then I saw the condition it’s in. In this condition, at this price, I’m pretty sure any Japanese car valuation guide will say, “クラック・パイプ!”
You’ll be fine on the roads...just stay off the sidewalks.
So, here’s the thing...Top tier Mercedes have terrible depreciation, making them attainable to those of us for whom the original MSRP’s would have looked like first mortgages. Unfortunately, the cost of parts and labor on these cars is high, and with 170K, things are going to start needing serious maintenance. It is…
Yeah, I fell asleep after you mentioned three rows... But you are to be forgiven. As a quasi Gen-X/Millenial myself this is the family-car segment we’re SUPPOSED to care about. In another 10-15 years we can return to looking at fun and interesting cars. Of course, by then we’ll look like insufferable douches driving…
The center turn lane is for exiting the roadway, NOT a waiting area for merging into traffic.
2) Tell that to my children who routinely exit my car and leave the driver side door wide open. Insert image of grumpy, fist-shaking father here: ______.
My daughter will be learning to drive in my Fiat 500 Abarth equipped with a manual transmission. I don’t think there is a manual-transmission gene located on the Y-chromosome.
Miata is always the answer, unless you need the 4 seats...
Consumer reports crack team of Electric vehicle testers... ;)
Ultimately, it’s harder to wrap your head around the Civic Type R’s distasteful styling than it is to wrap the car in protective vinyl.
You think the 80's were bad...late 70's were even worse. My first car was a ‘77 Malibu Coupe w/ the 350 V8. Fresh off the factory floor it only had 170hp/270lb ft and was good for 0-60 in 12 seconds...
Not a firsthand story, but interesting nonetheless. My dad told me about when he got out of the navy in 1976. He sold his car and bought a 1950's Lincoln Hearse in order to transport all his stuff back from Meridian, MS to Kirkland, WA. Apparently, the Hearse cost a bit more than he planned to spend and he was left…
Etymology AND cars!? I am in freakin’ heaven right now! Thanks David.
