He cares so much about respect for the flag on the sidelines of a football game, “Because...military,” but then he tells a Vet to go F himself. Classy.

Thanks for your service HolmerS.

I was just going to post the same sentiment.

Crackpipe. I’m not going to buy a vehicle unless I can see it! #camouflagejokes

The shallow cradle frame, with most of the engine hanging down below, must’ve made this thing feel like you were riding a slinky.

There is a replacement for displacement...forced induction.

You mention the AWD in the WRX always being Rear-wheel biased...is this a different system than was used in the Legacy GT? I had a 2005 that I (mostly) loved, but the AWD was strangely unpredictable. When pushed hard, it would understeer like a FWD car until finally it snapped at seemingly random points and swung the

Nooope! Seriously, if Ralph Nader were to write a book about the AMC Pacer, it would be called, “Crackpipe at any price.”

I actually like these, but they’re not a very good value. If I wanted a hot hatch, the Focus RS is $10k less. If I want a great wagon, a certified, Pre-owned E350 4matic wagon with around 25k miles goes for ~$40k. Also, am I the only one who is slightly offended that JCW is offered w/ an Auto (I feel similarly about

Hmm...that’s a lotta miles for a Turbo’d Volvo. OTOH, the odometer on my 1978 242DL stopped working at 240k, and the car kept running for 4 years before I had to rebuild the top end, and then ran for another 4 years after that. I miss that car. Okay, okay, I talked myself into it. NP.

I think you are probably right, which is why it seems silly that these cars are always talked about as targeting younger drivers. If I had to take a guess, I’d assume that the carmakers understand this, but continue to cynically market them as “Youth-oriented” because they know it’ll attract the aging, youth-obsessed

Yeah, the last sentence was definitely intended to be snarky...would be nice if the internet could agree on a Snark-font or something. ;)

Okay, so maybe where I live, in Washington State, is just a weird auto market, but when I see an automaker specifically reference a youth segment target in their marketing, it is almost a certainty that 95% of them will be driven by people over 55 years old. This was the case with the Honda Element, the Scion xB

The last shot seems to confirm my suspicions that this was created to give Lewis something emblazoned with a Mercedes Benz Star to zip around Monaco in during the off-season. Sure his bespoke Zonda 760(LH) is AMG-powered, but Dieter wants that Mercedes Benz branding to get top-billing.

One of the coolest facts about that Benz Renntransporter is that the truck used the same engine and gearbox as the 300SL (albeit specifically tuned for hauling purposes). An 80's Toyota version would be pretty slick!

That’s exactly what I was thinking of! Magna Steyr are currently producing the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes Benz G-Class and Jaguar F-Pace. Thanks for the education RatMR2and Awakkary!

I know it wasn’t really the point of the post, but now I can’t stop thinking about outsourced badge-engineering. Maybe Kia should stop selling their own cars altogether and offer their designs to the highest bidder, emblazoned with the badge of choice. You could conceivably have Kia factories in S. Korea

Looks like a Turbo-Encabulator to me. They’ve successfully been used in the operation of novertrunnions for years now, so I don’t see why they wouldn’t work in a BMW.

I thought this was going to be an apology from Honda to the McLaren F1 team, or maybe to everyone who’s ever laid eyes on the new Civic Type R.

I know I’ll probably provoke the ire of the commentariat, but when I first saw the headline “this destroyed Honda Civic Type R...” and the accompanying picture, my initial thought was, “How can it get worse than that back end?” As awesome as the new Type R may be, am I seriously the only person who thinks that it
