O Presunto que Anda

This weekend, I travelled to Tavira (it's an hour or so from my house) on two consecutive nights to watch movies at their annual Summer open air movie showings at Convento do Carmo. Though the seas weren't all that confortable, the movies were very good.
I managed to catch a Bulgarian movie I never had heard of, named

I'd say a 4th season is a given, it still is one of AMC's non-zombie top performers, in spite of the dip.

Yup, I’m actually not embarassed by the song representing Portugal this year, which is a rare occasion indeed!
(to be fair, there have been some fantastic songs representing Portugal over the years here and there, all of which got absolutely trounced)

I'm reading Vonnegut's "The Sirens of Titan" (I love Vonnegut, but haven't had a chance to read his earlier novels). I'm also reading Jon Ronson's "The Men Who Stare at Goats", and may also read Ricardo Araújo Pereira's "Disease, Suffering and Pain Walk Into a Bar - A Humor Writing Manual, Kind Of", if I get a fancy

Fucking hell. This one hurts.

Ehehe, I see your point. In retrospect, "tackle" might not have been the best word choice (and may have something to do with the fact that the two books were in the inverse order when I started writing the post).
And yes, I thought a little bit about Catch-22 while reading it.

You are not alone, 'cause I'm kind of a Bedard fan too.

This. So much this.

Yes, it is, and yes, it did. Something being a bad adaptation doesn't mean it must be bad, I agree.
The leaked pilot I saw of this a few months ago, however, was pretty damn uninteresting. Just a cookie-cutter procedural featuring the artist formerly known as the Devil.

My problem isn't even that it is a terrible adaptation: iZombie sucks as an adaptation of the source material, but it's a pretty fun series.
It's really that this Lucifer show sucks. Hard.

Well, the material this was (not really) based on didn't have any tough woman cop on the edge or crime fighting, That part is all from the network exercising their creative muscles!

One of my favorite Portuguese movies *ever*!

I loved the first two installments, and am really, really looking forward to seeing the third one. Miguel Gomes has truly been a breath of fresh air in Portuguese cinema!

This. They're really, really not.

My inner biologist (also, my outer biologist) was grumbling at that scene about electric eels being a South American species!

It's the Jeph Loeb inverse midas touch!

Well, pandas have been around for around 3 million years, so they clearly not suck at breeding that much, at least in natural conditions...

Flyingsquirrelman, is that you?

The whole movie? IT RUINED MY LIFE!!!! (actually, no, it didn’t, but I’m trying to out-dramaticize you. I’m winning, ‘cos I have more exclamation points AND CAPS)

Sure, I wouldn't say he being passionate or assertive is my problem with him: I just don't like pompous fucks as a general rule, even if I agree with him frequently.
