Regarding The Expanse: it absolutely is worth muscling through, yes. It only gets better from there (much better, I’d say), and you’ll find that Miller (the detective) is not quite the main guy in the story, although he remains important for a while.

Feels like cape comics were plagued with “GRRRRRRRRRRRRIMMMMMMMMMDARRRRRRRRRRRRRRK” for the past 2 decades now, and it’s making them, well, boring.

Loeb. Can’t believe the same guy who wrote a tightly crafted mystery like "The Long Halloween” also wrote the mess that was "Ultimatum"

“White Walkers HATE her! This one neat dagger trick will end the Long Night”

Since the A.V. Club can’t be bothered to mention it, Richard Erdman died. He was one of the last solid character actors from the golden era of Hollywood. No less than Michael Curtiz was so impressed by him he had Warner Brothers sign Erdman when he was still in his teens and Bosley Crowther once famously advised

A BEAR. You made a BEAR.”

Did you not see the pilot episode of Orphan Black, which starred both Tatiana Maslany and her amazing butt (which to my mind deserved equal billing)?

I don’t think I’d go so far as to call it his best film, but I really do think The Village is unfairly maligned. For me, it was Lady in the Water that was his real first misstep. What a piece of shit. Too bad it was a sign of things to come.

Probably ‘cause it sounds good

Welcome to the Monkeyhouse is great. Should have included that one initially. I still haven’t read Mother Night or God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater. They’re on my list though. Amazon has offered various Vonnegut books for a few bucks a piece of Kindle periodically over the last couple of years, so I own just about all of

Slaughterhouse-Five is one of my all-time favorites. Definitely check out more of Vonnegut’s work at some point if you get a chance. I’ve only read a handful of others, but I particularly enjoyed Cat’s Cradle and The Sirens of Titan.

I’m doing the Goodreads challenge for the year and have committed to reading at least 52 books this year. That’s approximately one book a week for those of you who aren’t mathematically inclined.

Agreed - I’d also throw in her two-part appearance on Angel right after “This Year’s Girl” / “Who Are You?” (which is an often overlooked best of Buffy).

I heard 6.25 seasons including July or Tuesday or sometimes nothing.

This old person wants to know if ‘tough’ means ‘gooood’ or ‘baaad’, and if it means ‘baaaad’, does it mean ‘bad in a gooood way’ or just ‘bad’.

Our enemies are distinctly NOT human, not anymore. They chose to abandon their humanity and should be treated as such.

Here’s the true answer: Every single Toad that puts on the specific princess crown can and will turn into Peach. Why do you think there’s a Toad at the end of every castle in the NES Mario? The crown is passed around as a means to manipulate Mario into “liberating” castles all over the mushroom kingdom. When the Toad

If there was anything edgy in this clip, it was Jeffries confronting the rabbi and the priest on their support of Trump, and their claims that he’s not a racist, just because he’s good for their political causes. That’s calling people out on blatant hypocrisy, which seems worthwhile. If you’re just reacting to the

I think the all-caps thing is a Terry Pratchett reference. Death is a major character in many of his books (and minor in most others) and his speech is always rendered in all-caps.

I AGREE, HE SEEMS POLITE IN THE PART I WATCHED.
