Sure, he’s on vacation until December, when his contract will end and he’ll leave the company.

Falcom’s amazing.

Any sources for that?

The difference with big companies is that they can keep quiet and not say anything about a big game that’s being developed until they have something substancial to show. Such big games can take years to get made, but they don’t have the constant pressure for a release date as crowdfunded games which are in public view

It’s not nearly as bad as Mega Man screaming every time he jumped or fired in Mega Man 8. It really doesn’t seem that bad to me.

Mega Man 7 looked great compared to the previous games, yet it played worse. It’s all about gameplay.

I don’t think that’s the issue. People are paying to see the game made. It may not turn out to be great, but it’ll exist. Batman didn’t need to prove anything to investors. The game was gonna happen no matter what, and it would sell. If Shenmue didn’t make it on Kickstarter, I’m sure the investors would back away.

Heh, kinda new, you mean.

How do you know that? I only saw the press conference where Kojima announced they weren’t making ZOE3 anymore after the HD collection’s failure. Doesn’t necessarily mean he made the decision, though.

I think the vampires in Blood Ties were pretty cool. Their leader’s one of the most interesting characters in the game.

I actually liked Other M, apart from some awkward story bits and those damned pixel hunts. The other problem it had, and was also in Fusion and Zero Mission, was too much hand holding and linearity. I think Retro recaptured much better the fredom of exploration from the earlier games. Anyway, I hope we can get a new

Thanks for the explanation. I can’t say if I’m really convinced in this particular case, but it’s a good argument and certainly helps painting a bigger picture.

Ubisoft really need to stop releasing so many Assassin’s Creed games.

Where did you get all that? In the ending credits, the only one credited with the story is Sakamoto.

I guess it depends on who’s running the Kickstarter project and what experience do they have. I haven’t heard about most of the games you mention, but in the case of Godus, Peter Molyneux sure isn’t a reliable guy. On the other hand, I trust IGA and Inti Creates can deliver, based on their track record.

Seems like the investors got their answer...

Don’t know about that. Shadowrun Dragonfall, Wasteland 2, Pillars of Eternity, Broken Age, The Banner Saga... All great games.

I don’t think Kojima will have to crowdfund. He’s the only one of these guys who was still making profitable AAA games. I’m pretty sure some big company will be happy to pay him for whatever he comes up with.

It makes sense, though. Castlevanias only became Metroidvanias after he came on board in Symphony of the Night.

You also won’t be able to buy a digital copy for 28 bucks when it comes out (not on consoles, at least.)
