Yup. I was super shocked when a childhood friend told me I wasn’t white after he met my mom and heard her accent. 

There’s this weird blind spot among Americans where they can’t wrap their heads around non-English speaking folks being white. You hear the same when they discover that a lot of Latin Americans consider themselves (and are) white. Hell, I’m Latin American and I am mostly of German, English and Basque descent.

The whole “People surprised by Gillian Anderson’s American accent” thing confuses me. She was Scully. Do people not remember the X-files? It was rather popular at the time.

I can’t prove it but I’m hoping that Americans have always been this stupid and it’s just that the Internet has given them a larger audience for their stupidity.

I have a serious hatred of tights/stockings exactly because as a small child in the 80s I was stuffed into those itchy, awful, horrible things for every concert, wedding, sunday church service. And it is horrible and makes for crabby children.

Meghan’s bullying was probably disagreeing with the people that thought they knew better than her and her setting clear boundaries. 

They removed themselves from a situation where people were constantly gossiping and scrutinizing their every move. For godsakes, the press acted like there’s a “wrong” way to be pregnant.

Counterpoint: if it was a warm day, no tights is vastly more comfortable than wearing tights. It’s ridiculous to force a small child to be uncomfortable because of “tradition.” That has nothing to do with Hollywood or Instagram.

It would be an interesting exercise to measure and quantifiably compare the number of words the Times and other British rags have devoted to Meghan and how much devoted to Prince Andrew, who raped child slaves.

As if Meghan requested to wear the those special earrings “You know, the ones that the saudi murderer gifted us”.

And this ridiculousness is why the monarchy isn't long for this world. Who gives a shit about flower girls wearing tights? 

I like that this is all happening when The Crown just reminded us how awful Charles and the firm were to Diana. Definitely makes it easier to root for Harry and Meghan.
