When Neil originally optioned Anansi Boys, they apparently told him that it could either be fantastical or have a black cast, not both. They said audiences wouldn’t understand having black people in a fantasy script. He refused to let them make it. Neil keeps a pretty tight reign on his works, so I’m going to trust…

Can we talk about her contouring, especially around her hairline? I know that’s not the main issue here, but considering she is literally darkening her face with makeup...it’s part of the issue. She needs to BLEND. That contouring is terrible.
