Starfield isn’t open source but we can look at the disassembly and what API calls the game is making towards the GPU drivers, which is what people are doing.

And yes. It does perform badly. Yes. Even on a top of the line NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD.

Except Todd has been proven wrong by people literally just looking at the code of the game which is badly written.

If so, that’s even more embarrassing.

Isn’t ten years ago about when they started making it?

Is anyone here *really* shocked Bethesda’s engine sucks?

Fair and,... ok. Have fun. And yeah, I understand the “keeping an asshole busy so he’s not hurting anyone else” too well.

Lol please don’t. I’ve gotten this wackjob to tantrum on me every single day for like a week now and it’s amazing. I don’t know where he finds the time (or how he doesn’t have carpal tunnel at this point), but I absolutely don’t want this lunacy to come to an end. It’s wild. I just hope he’s not taking out his

Xbox series S GamePass two crashes so far. Deleted the game shortly after the second crash. Playing Jedi Survivor instead.

Holy crap I’m flagging them.

Can we get a mod here? Squid is being harassed/spammed.

I get why you dismissed that grey but I’m a little confused as to what my comment (that kinda agreed with you on the “PC Master Race” jerks) did to warrant it.

Although the crowd who does genuinely call themselves the “PC Master Race” are pretty obnoxious, and verge on white supremacist talk a lot (not just the name, there’s a lot of questionable at best imagery and phrasing in that group).

Maybe. I recommend waiting until it’s on the inevitable super low priced sale. Modders shouldn’t have to be the ones to fix it, but we know they will and Bethesda won’t.

The problem has a few folds. Bethesda has never had an optimized game at launch. We also know that most games that aren’t on console are packaged in a heavily unoptimized state. Its why we have performance mods that not only cut down on file sizes, but increase performance on a multitude of machines

Sounds like the best way to play Starfield is 5-10 years from now on hardware beyond what you can get today, with several official and fan patches fixing things. So I’m on track then, plenty of games around to play in the meantime.

my only personal annoyance is that it ran fine during the early access period, and then suddenly its CTD every 5 minutes since launch day. but of course, bethesda says my problem is that i dont meet minimum requirements. then why was it running fine for literal days before?

Have you seen the FPS? This game runs like arse even on cutting edge PC’s

I have fond memories of saving up for the 3dfx voodoo (not sure if original or 2) and then a few years later trading it in along with other games at a local pc game store for a geforce2, back when physical pc cd/dvd games held more value. That was a great card that lasted a while, I think I was still able to run doom

“Ah yes, the ‘next-gen’ game that can’t even handle small interiors without needing a loading screen first,” says a popular YouTube comment
