Most of us in the US get 0 days off for maternal leave. Leave for the other parent, if any, isn’t even a whisper of an idea in most places here. You’re expected to take a ‘sick day’ for giving birth and then show right back up to work.

There’s no ‘reasoning with’ or ‘being neutral’ with that.

There is no neutral. Supporting people’s rights (to bodily autonomy) being stripped away is not an issue you can be neutral on, you can only be against it or complicit in it.

You can only handle people screaming next to you that they think you’re an unnatural perversion who must be purged from the Earth for so long, you can only deal with those same people trying to actively kill you and legislate you out of existence for so long.

There’s no “respecting the beliefs” of bigots. Those beliefs…

“Neutrality” when people’s rights are taken away (and, in the case of LGBTQ+ folks and folks who aren’t white, the right to exist is on the table), is not neutrality. It’s implicit support of those seeking to kill us.

It’s really telling when some people have never had to realize their mere existence is ‘political’.
