There is.

Don’t send police in for theft. Don’t train the police to shoot first and ask questions later. Don’t train the police for their first and only response is to escalate and use lethal force. Don’t let the police be full of white supremacists and white nationalists.

The best solution here would have been for the

I figured. We have a fundamental disagreement:
You think there is a justification for cops to kill people.

I do not.

For me, there is no justification for them to kill anyone. At all. There are thousands of ways to handle a potentially violent and/or fatal suspect without outright using lethal force.

It doesn’t help that

Get out of here with all this “oh yeah the police killed somebody that’s just our daily normal see here’s all the reasons they ‘deserved’ it” crap.

So, uh, checks notes, ‘owning an Audi’ (any Audi at all), while allegedly committing a (non-violent until the police showed up) crime justifies, wait, checks notes again, summary murder execution by the police. Or us ‘not knowing all the facts’ somehow justifies the extra-judicial murder of someone at a crime scene

Do you cook the boot first or do you just take it raw?

Disclosure: I am white, but I’m also a trans woman.
TW: Police violence

My first encounter with the police was one of the first times I tried figuring myself out. I just happened to be wearing a little makeup and slightly feminine clothes. I was 19. I was literally just walking down the street with a former friend.

The

Yeah, everyone is fair game to them. Being white and/or a man doesn’t protect you completely, it just makes you a bit less likely to be targeted in the first place, and possibly a bit less likely to die (at least if you’re a gender conforming cis/straight man, men committing the ‘crime’ of wearing makeup or goodness

Don’t even get me started on the police threatening or literally kidnapping people (particularly women, particularly women of color, particularly queer women, and most particularly queer women of color) with all kinds of charges in order to rape or otherwise sexually assault them. Of how many women of color and/or

Disclaimer: I only bring up the items stolen and the potential amount of money involved not because I think there’s some magical amount of theft that justifies the murder summary execution death by police of the suspects (due process? please?), but because it shows just how absurd this particular situation is.

The

1. Complying with the police almost never helps, if they’ve decided they want to hurt you they will make up any excuse whatsoever (or not even bother).
2. The victims (yes, victims) were unarmed. In the military, they teach you that pulling a firearm on an unarmed civilian is unacceptable, even if they’re attacking you

People need to remember the “Blue Line” (which the Army also has a version of) is a concept of protecting your ‘brothers’ in the force from consequences.

Not from ‘the enemy’ (there’s a whole essay worth on that terminology and the police), but from consequences of doing the wrong thing. Because, nudge nudge, if you

Just another wrinkle to add: police have also been caught over and over ‘losing’ body cam footage (or straight up caught out deleting it). (This may have been your implication with “on’/‘working’”)

The police in the US have largely been given a blank check giving them the ‘authority’ to carry out a death sentence without due process with absolutely no consequences and for literally any reason they can make up.

That should be unacceptable. Period.

Oh if only it were just Twitter telling me the police were evil, and not the police literally having tried to kill me twice just for existing in their vicinity.

The police do a perfectly good job of telling absolutely everyone who isn’t willfully blind just how abominably awful they are.

That’s not even counting the instances where police get mildly annoyed at someone, so they whip out their less “non”-lethal tasers, and then proceed to taze someone, over and over, sometimes more than a dozen times, in areas of the body that will almost always result in a cardiac arrest or some other immediately

Right direction, unfortunately, tasers are only a less-lethal weapon. When used correctly. Which the police often do not.

Far too many people genuinely believe that anything less than absolute obedience to even the most egregious demands from monsters the police demands an immediate execution.

It’s truly disturbing.

Could just do neither.

To attack people over petty theft from massive corporations that don’t pay them properly and do everything they can to screw them over, including cutting every benefit they can? When that corporation has insurance that more than compensates them? When you’ll lose your job for doing it anyway, because the company is

Puppy doesn’t care, otherwise they might understand that the police SHOULDN’T BE EXECUTIONERS.

FULL STOP.
