I dunno. I'd rather live in a city-state ran by Google than one ran by my current government.

On the other hand, it's making me grateful for the time my boss gave me a $20 gift card to a local grocery store. I never thought that would happen, so, uh, good job?

Awesome.

It did what it said on the tin and is a REALLY exciting prospect. My issues with the app are more along the lines of the way it sorted apps (by last use of the permission, which constantly reordered the list), and the way it would list permissions that apps didn't request.

It didn't work all that well to begin with, which is why I'm assuming they pulled it.

Oh my god, this.

I'm looking at getting one... soon. Sounds like you're a fan; how long have you had yours? Any niggling issues you've noticed?

This isn't new. Google's been doing this for almost a decade that I know of (so probably twice that long). From what I understand, these are the cables that the NSA (allegedly) tapped into to get at Google's unencrypted traffic (since the cables only went between their own data centers, Google didn't think they needed

I often watched birds as a kid, wanting to be one. Sometimes I still do. The freedom and joy of flight would, I think, be unmatched.

KINJA'D!

I love the lunch box. I can imagine him stopping for a bit and eating a sandwich while hovering. Just because he's 1000% more badass than anyone else.

Well played!

That makes sense. Is there a point that ground effects come into play and screw up your choreography, or are they pretty much there from the start of the approach/evenly affecting the plane?

This is pretty routine stuff for pilots. It doesn't make it any less scary for us mortals, but they do train very regularly for it, the planes are built for it, etc.

I wouldn't think you couldn't make them tall enough to make a difference without also:
Making them massive(ly ugly).
Blocking at least some direction of flight path (they'd have to be fairly close to the runway)
Risk having them collapse onto the runway (unless they are big enough to basically be a building)

If you really want to keep yourself up at night, read about impalement executions. They're what was done before crucifixion (and makes it look humane by comparison). I've seen some horrible things with no problem, and even now the text-only description I read about it makes me queasy.

I was wondering if this would show up!

It's pretty great until you open your online banking. I was told that my net worth was ~=a low-end bicycle.
