This guys is such an obvious troll, he hasn’t designed shit. Has no grasp of the relationship of torque and how it effects the power curve only giving a shit about max values (not even what RPM they’re at). Has the audacity to say a Ford EcoBoost is a “stronger engine” before this is even in the market. Then goes on

The original 6.6L Duramax debuted with 300 hp and 512 lb-ft on a 3/4 and 1 ton. That’s a stones throw from this, and it’s on a 1/2 ton. The 2003 Dodge Ram, with a 5.9L Cummins, had 250 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque.

It was.

Kodiak is shorter than Honda, and Chevy reg bed longer than Ram. Maths + context

I’d pay $995 just for the normal sized badges that can’t be read from 2 miles away, the split tailgate is just a bonus.

Oh that’s no problem. You just carry one of these with you just in case.

Also to note. I dont see how they can be opened independently of one another. The release for the 60 side is inside the bezel for the main tailgate drop handle, and the release for the 40 is inside the jamb between the two halves. Also the 40 side has a lip that, if 60 side closed first, the lip on the 40 would smash

The barn door is sweet compared to having to pull the tailgate to get a forklift closer to the bumper.

I am skeptical of the long-term reliability of this design.

Are we still calling this thing ugly or are we out of the group-think hate? I think it looks pretty good from a 3/4 view.

I was just thinking earlier today that so many of the people on this site simply don’t get the truck market or their buyers. There are a lot of plain wrong misconceptions (some true, however). Where I live people absolutely buy hd trucks as dailies because they also use them to tow their 5th wheel or boat or toys and

Nobody takes comments like this seriously. There are no - zero - similarities between this design and the 2000 Sierra. You're trying too hard to be edgy.

If I’m the guy programming the sensors, I’m going to error on the “premature deployment” every time, given the fallout from “didn’t deploy as necessary”.

Incredibly reliable? Where are these at? Not on Earth.

I can only speak from anecdotal experience, but they don’t last if you tow near their rating. An engine that grenades at 50k is not a reliable engine.

That’s what customers are for. They’ve been doing GM’s everyone’s R&D for decades

True, but I’d take that inline 4 VM Motori in the Colorado over the V6 VM Motori in the Wrangler.

It’s not a myth they have turbos failing.

great, another complicated ecoboost that’s spun too tight. neat.

All that added complexity, from FIAT, for 2mpg? Yeah, um, no thanks.
