At least it sounds like a V8 in the truck

I traded in my 2012 Raptor for a 2017 Raptor, and while I love almost everything about the new truck, I think it sounds like a dying vacuum. I miss the 6.2L rumble the old one had, but I love how much quicker the Ecoboost is

It’s Pentastar-with-a-fart-can level bad.

You and other Raptor owners are the only people in the world who think that.  The Ecoboost sounds terrible, and even worse with an aftermarket exhaust.  The first time I heard a Raptor with a catback I honestly was shocked at how bad it sounded and that anyone would leave that on their truck.

It sounds like the new GT. Which is not a compliment.

I agree. V6 just doesn’t sound good. That sound is a visceral thing. It needs a V8 rumble.

Am i in a safe place to say that the new raptor has one of the worst exhaust tones i’ve heard on a truck?

If it’s anything like the 2017 writeup, it’s just exhaust and some suspension bits, nothing as aggressive as the Raptor.  It also has a handy hook on the dash to hang your flat-billed cap when not in use.

Changing a belt doesn’t require a fully equipped shop.

I’ve forgotten more about trans swaps, head gasket changes and full motor changes than most people will know.

It still has the cassette. That’s hardcore.

Besides the obvious answer of this truck getting poor mileage regardless of what connects “6.2L supercharged V8" to “Dana 60 w/ 3.73:1 gears and a locker”, the 4L80e doesn’t really give up much in the way of highway mileage to its newer, heavier, more complicated counterparts. 4th gear in the 4L80 is 0.75:1, while 6th

Because it’s an easy swap that will hold the horsepower (when beefed up as it’s been) and let’s be honest you aren’t building this/ buying this going hmm should I or Prius

I mean, 200,000 miles out of a trans isn’t horrible...

You don’t deserve the Uncle you have... bro.

Oh Please.

After GM went to the bigger 9.5" rear axle, the G80 seemed to be beefed up to handle more abuse. It takes a lot more ignorance to break a new G80 than it used to in the tiny 10-bolt.

The alternator is at the very top of the accessory bracket on the 2014+ GM trucks. Literally the easiest component to get to. The water pump is immediately to the right of it and equally accessible.

Eh, plenty of room in the engine bay

package including Rancho shocks, a locking rear differential, Hill Descent Control, skidplates, a two-speed transfer case, all-terrain tires, a “heavy-duty air filter,” and dual exhaust.
