It’s amazing how many people seem to think that they, specifically, are noteworthy for having misgivings about both candidates in a presidential election. As if most people haven’t felt that way in most elections for all of time. Especially since most people in this country, prior to the past 8 years or so, haven’t

As I’ve said in the Deadspin/Concourse comments several times at this point: if you truly have nothing to lose in this election, congratulations on your extreme privilege. The rest of us will vote based on what’s at stake for us. (that’s targeted toward the bs in that post, not you, to clarify)

My dad moved here in the 70s, leaving behind a corrupt South American government in an intense drug war. When he left this comment on my voting picture (holding my two year old son), I had to go to the bathroom and compose myself. We are lucky to have this tool called voting. “I came here at seventeen with a dream

why is there a man in here

Alex Pareene’s self-important explanation for why he may or may not deem voting in a presidential election worthy of his time was the single worst thing I have read this election season.

I would give a nut to see a selfie from Tiff with her ballot showing a vote for Hillary.

Tiffany is the Meg Griffin of the Trumps.

My parents are voting for Trump. I’m voting for Hillary for them. They may not know it or even understand, but they made me who I am. They taught me that all people have value and that I should care about others. They told me that I could be anything I wanted to be. They taught me to think critically and to seek out

I’m crying right now. I just saw footage of Clinton voting and the smile on her face was priceless. And as I’m typing, I am crying even more.

My mother hates Hillary Clinton and my grandmother was going to vote for Trump because of abortions. But my grandmother always dreamed of going to college. Instead, she worked as a secretary in a college until she met my grandfather who dragged her out to a farm. There, my mother dreamed of going to college to study

I think there’s a lot more enthusiasm for Hillary than people realize. It’s just that the enthusiastic folks have been abused for years, so we’ve been driven underground and to places like private Facebook groups (shout out to Pantsuit Nation!)

Yeah that was really the dumbest thing I’ve heard all day. And this even after I saw a political ad superimposing my Democratic congressional candidate onto the ayatollah’s body.

I wish it was a surprise that all the female staff are upfront about voting for Hillary while a lot of the (mostly white) male staff either aren’t voting for either candidate because they’re not in a contested state or have to “hold their nose” to vote for her.

The scary thing is that it’s not us old white guys. (We’ll all be dead soon). It’s the young white guys voting for Trump that worry me. Keep canceling their votes and then some. A lot of us old white guys saw terrifying things in the ‘60's that resonated in our minds. Voting against racism, misogyny, and the 1% are

Really wish we’d drop this “my vote doesn’t count” stuff in the election where one side is actively trying to delegitamize the result preemptively and the popular vote difference may be a mitigating factor.

“Voting is fine, but it’s not enough about me. How can I make it less about other people and more about my perception of myself?”

I’m going to rant, pointlessly, in the greys. Do you hate the system? Do you want to change things? Then get involved in local government. Hell, get involved with the party you most agree with, and change it. Don’t make a vague plan to vote for the perfect thing that will be just the best, once you come up with it.

I live in NY and wasn’t going to bother voting because taking off work to schlep to a voting place seems like a waste of time. Like Tom Ley though, I want Trump to lose more than anything but equally importantly, I want him to lose BIGLY.

The “cancel out” vote works wonders. It might be ethically dubious for some, but it helped me begrudgingly fill in the box next to Clinton’s name in NC last week.
