Couple months ago I cleaned the coffee maker by running vinegar/water mix through it. Then I ran one batch of clean water through it. Then I made coffee. One big sip followed by a quick dash to the sink to spit every remnant out taught me that that coffee with (even a little bit of) vinegar is the worst coffee.

Somehow I feel like you might also be well-served by hopping the ferry & staying in some lonely corner of Whidbey Island; staring out at the Sound during half time while the tide comes in. (Better scenery than SeaTac, at least.)

Thanks. I hadn’t heard of either of those but both look interesting. Other than satire clips, I’ve not really been seeking out news since everything’s a shitshow these days. However there are several topics on The Daily that look more thoughtful than depressing.

Request: I have an upcoming 4-month work stint that will turn my 15-minute commute into 60-minutes. Looking for podcast recommendations for the traffic-y drive. Currently my core podcasts include The Bugle, CBB, 2oK Hertz, and 99% Invisible.

I am very much trying to imagine the teenagers of 1986 who were thinking of smoking with their friends, but decided to just say no after being persuaded by the Cats.

The way the lyrics go it makes it sound like a complete list for each day, right?  So 12 days of partridges, 11 days of turtledoves, etc.

No ‘cause the administration just cut their food stamps.

Huh! I’ve never heard of isinglass, but I’m always impressed that cultures found useful ways to employ the oddball or leftover bits of animals.  All I could think of was a white Russian.

Like what? (serious question)

I’m more confused by them volunteering the email from the guy who says the bike’s too expensive for them to afford.  This doesn’t really seem to be a ‘win’ for their PR.

Is that the season with Mark McKinney? I loved Kids in the Hall and I couldn’t figure out why he didn’t work on SNL. Obviously very TV show different vibes, but teenage me was insulted on his behalf.

I am not a rich lady, but if I had Bobby Flay available on FaceTime I can’t say I wouldn’t use him in a cooking pinch.

She wasn’t there as a delegate, though. She’s an advocate for veterans which probably brings her lobbying to both parties.  (Don’t know her politics, but it is at least a bipartisan issue.)

In a glance at the headline I read it as Wes Anderson directing, which I was much more intrigued about.

Although I did appreciate the mental image of a Stalinist who’s also a McCarthyist.  Talk about self-loathing.

Maybe, but they also seem kind of shifty and will climb to the roof of your car, leaving hoof prints all over the hood.

Sadly not Passions. That was batshit-crazy entertaining.

Given how quickly it seems to get a little gunky, I have a feeling they’re all living their best lives.

We use an old enameled camping coffeepot that was just hanging out in the cupboard. It’s functional and doesn’t look too bad. But is it really sparking joy in me or my vegetable refuse??

I remember finding this movie off-putting as a kid, but part of me wants to watch it again now to see if it's entertainingly strange or just strange.
