No Lancias? Fessia was right up there with Issigonis for out-of-the-box thinking.

Hi

My point is it’s a Jaaaag. Jaguar doesn’t make sports cars, it makes executive and personal luxury. The sheer size of it somehow just looks luxurious despite it probably being not at all.

Now playing

Right, but I would say this should have been in the neighborhood of a $1 to 2 mil price tag considering the CEO says just the fuel to get out to the site costs that much. But then I think the ‘jerryrigged-ness’ of the sub would be much more concerning to prospective customers.

I guess some people will always want to ‘see it with their own eyes’, but considering this is the most well documented wreck in the entire world, I don’t see the draw of needing to visit it, especially in a clunker of a sub viewed through a 1-ft porthole.

I was surprised by the $250k price tag, it seemed suspiciously low considering SpaceX ridealongs cost $55 mil. My guess is that Stockton realized if he priced it any higher people would second-guess themselves because of what a piecemeal crapcan the sub was.

Auschwitz is a memorial. This is like going to Everest to stare at dead bodies. I’m not gonna pass moral judgement, but just a bit weird.

That’s fair, but I just have issues with how myopic their reliability ratings are. The Tacoma has average reliability and isn’t recommended, but the CVT Nissan Rogue Sport has excellent reliability and is a top pick for the segment? I guess their definition of ‘reliability’ is not needing to visit the dealer for an inf

I’m not sure I agree. Pininfarina are (historically) masters of their craft, but the byproduct of being a third-party design house is that often their designs lose the spirit of the brand. The OG XJ220 is so Jaguar from the flowing lines to, yes, the excessive overhangs and length (and even the Rover 200 taillights!)

Maybe they need one of these at the wreck site:

I mean it would be a long cable, maybe impossibly long

No Lightyear? I was genuinely excited for them as I think this is the closest we’ll ever get to a modern Citroen (Lucid notwithstanding, I think they’re a bit more Lancia Flaminia thusfar).

Mercedes heard our hatred for gloss-black and decided to go all-in:

Yeah, the car has to meet their minimum ‘test drive’ score. But if it’s unreliable, it’s discounted immediately!

The best is the gen2 Sedona’s ‘longitudinal’ V6 cover on what is clearly an off-center transverse V6.

The Type S, sure, but the standard model is actually surprisingly good to me after decades of Acura’s usual nonsense.

but, but...RELIABILITY

Ah, now I understand. When I read ‘body’ I got the feeling that it was a full Scirocco unibody with Golf R32 running gear. I guess I was somewhat incredulous that the Scirocco panels would work on a Golf unibody, but VAG compatibility and all I suppose.

Many less than reputable shops have post-2000 Defenders titled as ‘80s imports. I’m more keen on knowing how they reached that point.

But like, this started as a Scirocco and got an R32 engine swap, right? Putting a GM V6 in a Mondial doesn’t make it a Fiero.
