I really don’t know anything about it personally but I read Mary Roach’s fantastic book Grunt. She mentions in a chapter about this very issue that much of the military’s progress on this is due to research done for trans people. So I’d assume that if all goes well not much longer before it would be doable.

That’s what I do. I use gray water from dish washing/hand washing to rinse the recyclables.

My apt building has recycling containers in the basement which smells bad because no one rinses/washes them. I save mine when I’m doing my dishes so I can put them in box to bring down once a week and reduce my exposure to the stinky basement.
