I hate to say it, because I think the opposition to the NYT investigation is so obviously motivated by self-interest, but I feel like the guy kind of has a point.

I’m always amazed by these articles. I feel like I’m always hearing (at least on Twitter) about how guys are way too willing and eager to go down on women.

Yes. I’m definitely on the side of “actually discussing the slaves’ experiences instead of treating them as victims without any personal lives is a good thing.” It reminds me of what Ta-Nehisi Coates wrote in “Between the World and Me” about people being forcibly defined as black but still creating their own culture.

A Jezebel writer tweeted that this lady also gave a marriage license to a trans men and a pansexual woman last year (presumably she just thought they were a normal straight couple) which is fucking hilarious:
