I don’t even like to get e-mails from actual humans, so getting them from fictional characters and video games is completely unacceptable.

Have to agree here 100%. As an example, it made all the difference when playing the Marvel vs. Capcom series of games during the ‘90s. When you picked Wolverine, not only did he look like Wolverine from the ‘90s animated series, he sounded just like him. It made the whole experience that much better, fulfilling, and…
What? It’s a developer with a long history of involvement in the competitive Smash world. The fight mechanics exhibit a strong understanding of the appeal of competitive Smash and while many character mechanics are derivative, the actual movesets are love letters to the IPs they reflect (No This Is Patrick as a down…
For real though, adding voice acting would do wonders for this game. It just feels lifeless without it. Yeah it’s pretty sound technically, but it feels like there’s no soul, no reason for it to be Nickelodeon characters other than to get some default attention.
How do you fuck this game up so badly?
The OLED one is a nice option if you’re a first time Switch buyer. I actually got lucky and just saw one sitting at my local Target this morning when I went for errands. I had originally thought about flipping it, but I really do hate when people do that, so I’m just selling my original Switch and keeping the OLED.…
Trying to squeeze every dollar they can out of the new gamepass players before the plug is pulled after Spiderman. Was there ever a Schreier level post-mortem on this game? There is no way it was developed originally as a live service looter. Even Anthem had more thought put into its loot and GaaS features.
Going to lean in here and make note to anyone reading that the biggest criticism of this game is an entirely subjective one.
Yeah, it’s almost like it’s their job where they are paid to play through these games and give their opinions on them.
I think the other factor is just how many of these games there are. Most normal people only play 1 or 2 series or games. If you’re a critic, you’re expected to keep up with all of them, which makes it all the more evident where content is just being copied and pasted.
I do wonder if Far Cry games, and the Ubisoft formula at large, is just not good for critics. I played AC: Valhalla over many weeks. Took some breaks here and there, and just gradually made my way through it. And I enjoyed it!
However, I can’t imagine playing it under a time crunch, and if I had, I would have given it…
It was entirely boring and unnecessary when I did it in Far Cry 5.
New and interesting games are all well and good, but you can barely give someone a primer on a campaign world and expect them pay attention to it. These worlds maintain such a high population of players because you only need a basic passing knowledge of what generic fantasy is, and you can roll up a character.
That and a taunt/honk button.
The looping gif in this is extra appropriate
I’m not sure any of the guards in Deathloop qualify as “highly trained.” They’re more like random people with guns and knives.
Every game should have a dedicated kick button. I’m talking Animal Crossing, chess, Microsoft Flight Simulator, dating sims, everything.
To be fair that’s not all they get, let’s be honest here.
*SPOILERS?*
As someone who knows nothing about Tumblr, and very little about Boyfriend Dungeon, I find a lot of the (well-put!) discussion in this piece pretty broadly applicable across social media as a whole, whether that’s ‘social media lets people build communities’ or ‘social media acts as an echo chamber’ or ‘social media…
