I didn’t think he was really dead (or if he was, that he would only be temporarily dead, Jon Snow style), which made me glad that they did the reveal at the end instead of going for a disingenuous fake-out á la superman or, for that matter, Jon Snow.

Gao was easily the most formidable of all of them. From shooting that guy in the back of the head in the Chinese Restaurant to the boardroom scene to being the only person to get away here. I hope she comes back.

And the implication (if not explicitation) that there’s only room for one strong woman character, and that they must all be compared to just one other! And “overly-sexualized”? One of the delights of the film is that she WASN’T inappropriately sexualized! That’s like that old man character in “Bloom County” who hits

With how much screentime that doorway got, they’ll be adding it to the main cast for Defenders season 2. It has such a way with dialogue - evoking so much with so little.

I did find it weird that there wasn’t a moment where Claire walks into the police station and goes, ‘Hi Guys’ and the main four heroes all have that moment of ‘wait, you know her?, why didn’t you clue us in sooner, then we might not have had to throw-down with one another anywhere near as much?’

While I enjoyed most of the finale I was left with a lot of questions and there was a bunch of stuff that was just plain hilarious:

Misty loosing her arm, said on the internet a moment where everyone cheered then felt bad about it.

“Come on, Ironclad”

Second only to her utter contempt for DD’s costume.

Which is partially Jessica being Jessica and partially because she’s worn one before.

In the end I would say the Defender’s was a success. While it had its flaws I was able to get around them and enjoy it throughout. Hell, it made Danny tolerable enough that I’ll give Iron Fist season 2 a shot, that alone is reason enough for this show to exist. JJ will always be my favorite, I’m biased like that. But

He’s the best, most interesting character of the four - not that he had to be but the way the other shows were written he surely is - so of course they weren’t killing him. I did love JJ season 1 every bit as much as I loved the first season of Daredevil - but David Tennent had a lot to do with that and they really

“What does it mean to be a hero?” — A third grade essay by Karen.

Was anyone convinced that the show had actually killed off Daredevil? He’s their marquee character, the only costumed superhero in the Netflix library, and they “killed” him in an obvious off-camera feint. He seemed about as “dead” as Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees ever get.

So I spent the last third of the episode

No “logical” reason in-story for Matt to be able to survive but not Elektra.

Danny: It’s my chi.

Trish: “What have you found out?”
Karen: “Nothing yet. I’m actually a terrible journalist. I just pinned these pictures to the wall because that’s what I’ve seen in movies.”
Trish: “How the hell did you win a Pulitzer?”

I liked the miniseries very much, and I’m hoping that Defenders also gets a season 2 order. The playground of street-level NYC is too ripe to be abandoned this early.

“Once we start that timer, there’s no turning back.”
“Actually, if we really needed to abort we could just pull the detonators out of the C4. It’s a remarkably stable explos—”
“I SAID THERE’S NO TURNING BACK!!”

I still don’t think that’s the gate to K’un Lun, just a dragon repository.
