What the hell have they done to the Limited to command a $16,500 premium over the XLE?!

This thing is begging for an engine swap.

You need to head out toward Hell, Unadilla, and Stockbridge. That’s where the good roads are. Take Huron River Dr on your way out.

LOL. I wasn’t going to say anything, but mine, too!

If they don’t like OTA’s, they’re going to hate electric vehicles.

I don’t understand the Tacoma fanaticism. I drove a brand new Limited 6MT and could not get myself to be willing to subject myself to the punishment of driving it on a daily basis, let alone actually enjoy it. The platform is absolutely ancient. They added a tilt/telescoping wheel for 202o, presumably to address the

This does not seem to take into account the bias for manual transmissions on performance-oriented products that are aimed at driving enjoyment.

Absolutely. I’ve found this in searching for similar cars. There needs to be a critical mass of manual transmissions in the mix so that people can actually drive them and buy them off the lot!

Agreed on your points, but I think “brand loyalty” sits above those factors. Its more about the DNA of the product (not historical, but the attribute development decisions that are consistent throughout the product line), community (for enthusiasts), and product/service support.

BMW - The BMW Car Club of America has a big part to play in that. I’ve definitely strayed, but, on average, every other vehicle I have owned has been a Bimmer. I’ll admit, though, that it has been hard to remain excited about the newer products...

Neutral: I’ve sold 3 and bought 1. They were all fine.

Jack, Jack Stands, Torque Wrench, and a 4-drawer Craftsman (or similar) tool set.

Rebuild.

The Buick was the only reasonable suggestion! With that much time on the road, I would value low NVH and good ride quality over sportiness. With that said, Something like a 5-series might be a better bet. Maybe a Mazda 6, rather than the 3.

I actually give props to your friend for using a sedan rather than anything larger. Yes, between minivan and SUV, minivan is far superior. But better than that is a wagon (nearly all the capacity and better economy/handling/etc). In this land of excess, its actually nice to see people getting by with only what they

Its very cool that you can get a lot of that tech in a cellphone app today with a bluetooth dongle and external GPS! And you can get quite GOOD data with an AiM Solo2 DL for about $700. It’s one thing to collect the data, but another to interpret and use it. That’s where pro driving coaches, drivers, and engineers

So satisfying to watch these videos!

Quade, I think you may be underestimating how many people are spending big money on track days and how many events are out there catering to wealthier clientele. When I was coming up through HPDE (2005+), I was attending BMW CCA and PCA events, as well as Chin Motorsports. Chin definitely brought higher end machinery,

LOL. Basically a small steering input one way (squirrel), unloading the suspension, and a big steer the other way (moose). Basically a worst-case test for handling stability.
