The most difficult is actually the squirrel-moose test. I’m not joking. This was really the term we used at an OEM I worked for.

These fees are a way to hide straight up false advertising, IMO. Same with dealer “processing fees”, which are just money packing on the back end. If everyone has to pay it, then it should just be included in the price. I also am astounded by the variance in fees. Why would a domestically-built Jeep cost more in

Thanks Test-Driver! I decided to stick to my role as reviewer/writer here and not plug myself in other capacities, but thank you for the thought. Yes, driver training is a bigger part of going faster than modifying your car, for most. At some point, the decision on the car will apply, though.
I’ll continue to do my

Quade, at one point, I may have agreed with you. However, the more events I go to, the more I see quite silly amounts of money that are circulating a racetrack. At this particular TrackXperienz event, which hosted Ginetta, $100k track car was par for the course. I’ve seen it in many other places, too. It’s quite

IDK, GasMan, there was some serious equipment at the event we were at (including a McLaren Senna) and tons of eyes were on the Ginettas! Besides that, it was one of the 5 fastest cars there, which included a couple of Ferrari 458 Challenge cars! I stand by my comments that I’d rather spend $100k on this than $100k on

Hey, your reaction is valid. Thanks for the constructive exchange!

Half-track, thank you for taking the time to articulate your thoughts. I’ll say that I didn’t suppose that I was directly helping someone decide on whether to buy one of these, as those people will likely contact Ginetta and get a sales pitch from them. I don’t think that 99.9% of people reading Jalopnik are genuinely

Haha. I feel you. I also feel how much less comfortable my street car is now that I’ve made it able to survive me driving it for extended laps on the track! The intention was really for my wife to drive it (128i) on the track. But, if I’m there with her, I’d like to get some laps in, too! Some of the mods make it more

Hopefully the hot lap at the end of the video shows you what you’re looking for, but T9-10 is usually where I’m usually catching the bigger-powered cars when driving a momentum car because there’s no straight sections there!

Hey Half-track, I’m here to discuss if you have any questions. The disclosure was accurate. I have no association with Ginetta and had never driven one before. This was the second piece I’ve done as a for Jalopnik that required a reviewer with extensive track/racing experience (Ariel Atom 4 was the other). I did try

Your example is one of the few where I would tend to agree with you. The original Viper was a tube frame chassis adapted to street use. I’ve driven a last-gen ACR on track and they are IMPRESSIVE! Though there is still room between that and a full-on track-only car, though, especially from a safety perspective. Cheers

Yes, they ARE good, especially if you “snap-lock” your 3-point belt for driving on track or autocross. I have a set of Schroth zip-on clavical pads that I install if taking one of my cars on track. I had a set of BMW leather pads on my Z3, which helped much during my autocross days.
The “snap-lock” works 100x better

If Miata was ever the answer, this is that time.

Welcome, Jose, from this 18-year BMW CCA member!

I had the first FR-S in the NKY/Cincy area and put 25k miles on it in 8 months. It was terrible for the kind of driving that I was doing 95% of the time. It was brilliant for the other 5% (back roads and track). I sold it and got a 335i, which flipped the ratio. I now have a 128i (with mods) that’s right between the

I agree. I’d love to do that comparison!

Of course. Sometimes I have to step back and realize how awesome an awesome car really is. I really tried to enjoy this one! I gave a few rides and it REALLY made me chuckle to hear the impressions/screams from the less tainted passengers :)

No.

Buy a first-gen Insight or Civic Hybrid and you can get a manual. CR-Z, as well.

The RAM 1500 definitely has the best ride of any current full size truck.
