You couldn’t turn the wheels on any other truck with standard EPAS any faster. It’s not the wheels’ response that’s slow, it’s the steering wheel that’s fast because it has such a short lock-to-lock.

Not the M3.
E90 328i. Since the car will be a fraction of the budget, it leaves room for the 3-stage intake, headers, tune, 3.64 LSD, M3 control arms, 335i brakes, and MCS coil-overs. The perfect all-around car. E46 M3 would be a better driver, but less comfortable and less practical than a sedan.
My past cars include an RX-8,…
This is my surprised face. :|
I drove one in the 2021 One Lap of America. It was the most comfortable car I’ve run OLOA in to date ;)
Thanks! The M Cars don’t have runflat tires, though.
Every other car in this segment (big 5-door sedan/coupey/hatchy thing) has a sloping rear end, starting from the Mercedes CLS of the mid-2000's. The complex compound curves and duck tail of the 8-series grand coupe looks amazing in contrast and on it’s own merit. I love it.
My guess is that it wouldn’t be putting out enough to offset the extra 300-ish pounds that this car is carrying, but - to the point of this piece - that’s not the mission of this car.
I like the strategy. Let’s see if customers agree. I’m also curious how the resale values will be vs other trims.
Listing recent repairs. Unless it’s a preventative repair like a Porsche IMS bearing or BMW crank bearings, listing them out only says that the car is failure-prone.
This is a refreshing approach and delightfully candid insight to the intentions of the car.
Those last two paragraphs make me think that the electric drive isn’t going to last for a lapping session at pace. It’ll be a one-lap wonder.
Came here to say this. 2:17 is not nearly getting everything out of this car. It should be able to do a 2:05 or less on street tires and sub 2-min on Hoosiers.
I hate that you’re right about this. I have great fondness for Watkins Glen, having raced there for years and getting married there. I would love to see F1 race that track, but wouldn't want to see the track or the town changed to make that happen.
I can’t blame them, but it’s not because EV’s blatantly suck. Tesla does not offer a pursuit-rated package and there is a ton of development and optimization to suit these vehicles to pursuit duty. From seats to wheels, to weight-carrying capability, to prep for upfitting with electronics, and so much more, these…
It has to be a labor of love.
I am straight ballin’ in year 2000. Your life is not complete until you’ve owned a V12-engined car.
Seriously, I really do enjoy noticing all the luxury details that were crafted into this thing, even if it does have 200k miles and isn’t the prettiest thing. And, the only reason I paid as much as I did ($4500) was…
I, too, got a couple good deals in the pandemic. I picked up a 2014 Boxster S 6MT with an awesome spec at an awesome price in Nov 2020. I also bought a 2000 750iL to get me through the winter, but I have additional plans for the motor from that car once the warm weather comes.
I did some of the early ride/handling development on the WB Charger. Rolled around on the street without flares and on standard wheels with a back-half cage in the car, then mounted up the wide rubber at the track ;)

Bravo, Jason!
It sounds to me like Manjoo was trying to give Cadillac what they wanted (a praise-filled piece) in exchange for his free transportation. In reality, he perpetuated the misconceptions surrounding L2 ADAS.
