The treatment of women and minorities in fiction is not worth talking about...

Anyone who has ever been inspired, educated, enlightened, enraptured, sorrowed, or enraged by a piece of fiction...

Yep, the post may as well be “FYI: Novels are not real”

The Prestige TV Show Hot Take Economy is extremely bad and dumb, but so is arguing that the way that we talk about and depict our world in fiction is irrelevant and not worth talking about in general.

Anything not to blame Hillary, naturally.

The internet won’t let it be otherwise. These days, things are either the best ever, or they suck ass. No dynamics are allowed in criticism of pop culture objects.

Stephen, I really appreciate your insight about how reviewers playing new games at the same time as the consumer audience can deepen the engagement people have with the review process. I think a lot of the toxicity in the gaming community stems from the legacy of this information imbalance, where players rely mostly

Like we all felt bad for the kid, until...I did not see that end coming and I’m still flipping out about it because of how hard they got me.

Thats fine but if those people dont want to work for that money then some other schmoe who has been trying to get work will finally have some.

Leaks. Lots of game companies don’t want their reveal spoiled, and because of how long it takes to animate games, quite often the VA work is done well in advance of the reveal.

I mean if the VA getting say $1000 for say 3 hour of their time recording. and they accepted the contract and paid in the amount he/she happy with.

So you think that 2016 has been an extraordinary year for the erosion of democracy, when regularly less than 60% of eligible turn out to vote in an average presidential election nowadays? Our democracy has been eroding for a long time. I’m not too worried about the relative size of Trump’s influence on that trend.

I love how people will overrate the capabilities of a cadre of human trash who couldn’t even hold on to wildlife refuge, while simultaneously implicitly underrating the US military, which is widely regarded (with good reason) as the greatest (in terms of most powerful and ready to do battle) military that ever

Again, that only works so long as the majority believes that the law works.

The rule of law only works as long as we respect the law and the process in crafting it. As soon as trust and respect in that is eroded, then the constitution is just a piece of paper, rather than a set of ideals to guide the government.

Expressing their discontent with violence is what I’m concerned about.

Just disrupt society and cause trouble, tainting the entire transfer.

When a large portion of the electorate loses faith in the process, the only alternative is the use of force. Our government could easily use the military to suppress dissent and keep itself in power, but it would no longer be a Democracy.

Yeah, no. Those elements will not be able to stop the transferal of power between administrations. We have national guards in every state, and they can and would be mobilized to put down any attempt by civilians to interfere with this. And the thing is, people know this. Assholes like the Bundy acolytes, or whomever,

It’s not about him having power to change the results. It’s about being the bigger person and saying you gave it all you got but ultimately you lost and you can accept that (even if it’s just for public appearances). It doesn’t look professional or adult for that matter if you sit there throwing a fit.
