Pence is more scary to me than Trump. People who want to break away the separation between church and state are dangerous. Just look at how Turkey is now that they have a non-secular leader.

Since it was in Chicago, it must be Obama’s fault...I guess?
If its an anonymous account why even give anything said any credence, seriously.
This. Also, remember the red Starbucks cups? One guy complains, then we have a media shitstorm about how people are too sensitive and need to quit bitching about the “War on Christmas” (TM). There was no story until the media made one up based off of one vlogger.
I disagree. I would say the of harassment is directly tied to the amount of anonymity allowed on Twitter. More fake profiles means more frequent and extreme commenting. Also, most social media is concerned with sharing things about oneself. Twitter is more geared toward commenting on others.
Again you are missing the point, its statstically impossible to avoid assholes given the size of the human population. Since i cannot control this fact I only worry about what i can control. So for your argument I just watch where I’m walking. Life can be hard sometimes... You’ll get it eventually.
The comparison to Facebook and Instagram are somewhat flawed. Most people on Facebook are not anonymous (not to be confused with Anonymous), but rather have their real names and faces up. Instagram is usually tied to your Facebook account, so the same stuff applies. (Plus, it’s a system for posting pictures, more than…
You’re joking, but going back to Roman/Greek times, it has long been known that best way to deal with assholes is to let them keep talking.
What do you mean by ‘asshole’ though? I’m not asking pedantically - sometimes people mean ‘he disagrees with me; he’s an asshole.’ There are PLENTY of people that see the world very differently from me, but they aren’t assholes. Other times, its assholes actually damaging the community.
Again, we are letting these assholes come together and reach critical mass by giving them attention, something they are looking for.
Sure. The issue that a lot of people have identified however, is that Twitter is very quick to restrict speech over, say, posting GIFs of the Olympics. (This past weekend, in fact, several accounts were banned over posting GIFs of a WWE PPV.) They are ... inconsistent.
The harassment some people get truly sucks, but the worst thing about social media is the ‘magnifier’ impact it has in conjunction with our own inability to modulate our own responses.
Agreed, when did we stop teaching our kids the Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me mantra?
Sure, I can understand that. Twitter is a private entity and are well within their legal rights to do whatever they want with their platform.
So now the trolls have your real name and/or photo, despite not needing to provide their own. And what if someone from, say, Syria posts something the government doesn’t like?
If no one gave these assholes the time a day, or got upset over some random entity saying something on the internet, would it matter?
I’m still trying to figure out why all these pretty girls who like my tweets aren’t ever ready to chat when I go to the links in their profiles.
Assholes destroyed digg. Assholes are in the process of destroying reddit. Assholes are also in the process of destroying twitter. What all of these platforms had/have in common is the idea that regulating assholes was the greater evil. The problem is, if you let assholes reign free, the only people who will…
they don’t even necessarily have to kick people out. just make it so they’re yelling at an empty room
Without Twitter, millions less Americans would know how much of an absolute idiot cockjuggling thundercunt Donald Trump is.
