While that sounds good in a lot of respects, one thing this election cycle has made me appreciate is the vetting process that comes from being so long. In a shorter cycle there is a chance that someone like Trump is able to get swift momentum and hold it together just long enough to make it over the finish line.

But the problem in general with our election-news system and especially Trump, is that it's presented as if it was for our entertainment.

If the alt-right lashes out, it only illustrates her point and makes the regular right want to pull away from the lunatic fringe.
