As a rough calculation, 790 lb-ft with a tire that’s 33" in diameter would give you about 575 lbs of driving force at the wheel. there’s has been plenty of european rally cars brought over to compete over the years. It can be all done under the temporary import permit and the cars can drive on the roads.

It’s often the reaction of somebody whose life DOES have bigger problems, but they can’t fix them, and this seems like a problem small enough to fix, or at least to have a go at fixing, so their energy gets redirected from the big problem to the little problem.

Of all the people I know who flew on the Concorde, cramped is a word I never heard them say. Yes, I’ve been in the Intrepid museum’s plane. Yes, the seats are about like a modern commuter jet. But then again, a three hour flight at FL60 is pretty mesmerizing and that seems to be the thing that people remember.

Are sonic booms really that loud from 60K thousand feet?
