Should I eat in my car? That’s my choice and whether I do or not does not affect anyone else. Should you eat in your car? Well, make your own choice. Like whether you wear shoes in your house. Do you tell people they should or shouldn’t wear shoes in their own homes?

Technically incorrect. Arizona is always on Mountain Standard Time. It does not change to Pacific time; instead, it declines to change to Mountain Daylight Time.

Mount a universal roof basket to those crossbars and carry gas cans. Or get a cargo carrier for the receiver. Or put the gas in someone else’s vehicle - none of your passengers will be affected.

This. When was the last time you saw an unmodified ‘32 Ford - heck, I bet most people couldn’t recognize an unmodified one, but they know it’s a 32 Ford after being hacked up. It’s not a Jeep Thing.

You can do the same recipe without the instant pot. Just put in a steamer basket and steam for 13 minutes, vs. five minutes. Then cook in the oven. Or just look up Alton Brown’s recipe for wings. They do get nice and crispy.

“If you sprung for the higher-spec LE Dynasty, you could get it with a Mitsubishi 3-liter V6 making about 150 HP, and, later, a 3.3-liter V6 making all of 162 HP. These were, um, fine, I guess.”

A nice tip can go a long way to dressing up a vehicle, and at a modest price. I bought this black powdercoated tip for $25, cut it to size to match my exhaust, welded it on. I think it looks much better than factory on this Silverado. I also painted the factory exhaust black up to the muffler after I took these pics.

Didn’t they advertise that they have more space than at least one competitor? “The 2019 Silverado offers the most cargo volume in every bed length, with the short-box offering 63 cubic feet of volume — up to 20 percent more than a competitor’s short-box. “

A friend’s ball joint failed while climbing this rock in Moab on Gold Bar Rim. We could not lower the truck down the rock as the ABS and brake lines were already stretched - any movement would have torn them off.

Isn’t this an article about the challenges of purchasing a 15 year old vehicle? It’s age, and not low miles, that created these issues. It would be foolhardy to assume that if it had double the miles that somehow all of these items were maintained or replaced.

90s rock band? Yeah, you really don’t know them as they’ve been steadily producing good music since that time with many successful releases. Calling them a 90s rock band suggests their time has passed which is far from accurate.

I had a good experience with Autonation buying my CPO Chevy Silverado. Their no haggle price was lower than I thought I might pay for a 2017 with 5000 miles on it. Granted, it was tough to compare as there were no similar vehicles for sale at the time but it was way lower (of course) than a similar new vehicle, and

No.

I think the only problems that were presented, and cannot be reasonably overcome, are the gas mileage and the engine power. A $1000 lift has its limitations and, like you presented, starts to present other issues like steering performance, wear and tear on driveline due to the increased angles, etc. Most mods create

Brake pads? I’m not going aftermarket - up or down - on these. I notice a very significant difference on O’Reilly’s best vs. GM pads. I yanked out the O’Reilly pads after a few days.

I recall reading an article about this years ago from an engineer or designer, and he basically said a couple of the same things you did: 1) it’s only needed on the windows with the typical hatchback-like rake and 2) it’s only included when they feel like including it. Typically it’s a design decision and/or sticking

Exactly. And the access on the other “better” van shapes all has the engine buried under the windshield and dash and impossible to easily access.

If someone can’t put a proper paint job on a “restored car” I become leery of the other shortcuts that were taken. CP

Good writeup. And as others have mentioned, and it would have been good to see in the article, is mention that you changed brake fluid, power steering fluid and were going to do the radiator and coolant.
