It’s legitimate to point out the similarities, which are plenty ... but those dudes didn’t come up with them, they read them on iO9 or reddit or somewhere.

Really. That was your takeaway from the movie. She only saves the world because she loves Steve. You watched the movie and you believe that to be the case. Really.

The sad part is that you know that the Snyder fanboys will be saying that this retroactively makes BvS, MoS, and Suicide Squad better with some essay-length comment based on character motivations and plot points pulled directly out of their respective asses.

I have had so many convos with friends that go like this:

Woman friend: Did you see Wonder Woman? Wasn’t it great? It’s doing so well and I’m really happy about that because I’d love to see a sequel!
Other woman friend: Yes, I loved it! I’m taking (other woman or girl) to see it too.
Dude: It really wasn’t that great,

The last time I saw a super hero movie in the theatre or even at all (before wonder woman) Michael Keaton was batman. I think I went against my will with my parents. Super heros aren’t my thing. However, I binge watched Jessica Jones and I saw Wonder Woman. I didn’t just buy a movie ticket. I went to the fancy theatre

“I’ve never really had a violent encounter but once or twice...”, then there was that time.., oh, and that other thing where I got arrested... But honest officer, I only had one or two beers.

Guys, they totally addressed this in their past legislative sessions. They’ve worked so hard to bring the maternal mortality rate up why would they want to go back and undo their hard work?

“Texas’s growing pregnancy-related mortality rates disproportionately affect black women, who make up 11 percent of births, but 28 percent of pregnancy-related deaths in Texas.”

Woman dying in childbirth = malfunctioning incubator

Being an American isn’t about shedding your cultural heritage to join this collective blob of stars and stripes.

Superman is different since he was raised as an American. He didn’t know he wasn’t from Earth until he was an adult.

That’s amazing! How did they her boobs and her butt in the same shot so perfectly? And the amount of detail in ignoring how the human spine works in in the Greg Lands level is astounding!

“And how about Batman? Why isn’t he wearing red, white and blue body armor and have an American flag as a cape? Plus, you never, ever hear him singing the praises of American values or reciting the Pledge of Allegance! Damn Hollywood liberals and their American hating liberalism!”

I am surprised they didn’t complain about them pushing liberal agenda of Native American guy saying white people stole their freedom. Maybe that would have required watching the movie.

It’s super weird how he is framing the review to treat the protagonist as an interloper in her own narrative.

I confess that I don’t really get your complaint here. I never saw Steve’s attempts at coddling Diana as “training wheels” so much as the sort of bullshit most incredibly capable women have to put up with while dealing with their male peers.  Yes, the dynamic between Steve Trevor and Diana was very different than

Yeah, that one took me back. Then when I read this one:

“It’s a fish-out-of-water set-up — Diana is a sort of mermaid with no idea how to dress or talk to male authority figures or even use a revolving door —”

“talk to male authority figures”? May this sleeze ball sit on a cactus and rotate. repeatedly.

Everything about that review was gross. If I detailed everything I hated about it I’d be here all day, but I’ll go ahead and point out his comment about how all the positive reviews of the films show that reviewers are grading “on a curve” - fuck you, man. So, people are evaluating a superhero movie as a superhero

I don't even know how to address this. We're talking about the fact that it's male dominated because the female view has been historically ignored. It wasn't male dominated by default, it became so because women were ignored so they felt unwelcome.
