I’m glad they’re giving her police protection, but why the hell haven’t they arrested this dangerous asshole yet? And why the holy hell haven’t social media platforms fixed their shit when it comes to quashing online harassment?

Question: Can Ivanka be a working mother if she doesn’t understand what work really is? (as evidenced by both her book and everything that comes out of her mouth)

Want to know what a real working mom is? She needs to talk to mine, who was a working single mom. A real working mom is one who walks in from work, dirty, still with her work clothes on and goes straight in the kitchen and starts cooking. Thats what my mom did when me and my sister were kids. And even when the food

I doubt all of the women who do this are “into” it. Sometimes, if you really give a shit about something, you’ll do things you aren’t particularly into, just because it needs to be done, and no one else will.

Yes, we can expect you not to be self-absorbed monsters. Is that truly too high a bar for you, to give a crap about anyone other than yourself for 5 minutes? That is sad.

Is it possible to subscribe to afiltered lifehacker RSS feed without having to read posts like this?

Likely the exact opposite is true; all of the politically active women I know are working women - single/married, parent/non-parent, straight/gay - doesn’t matter. Welcome to 2017 where “supporting” your family means a lot more than having a job.

Maybe you should go live in that world where protesting hasn’t changed anything. You can support your family by working 10-12 hours a day 6 days a week in a coal mine.

girls are just supposed to get along and make do, right?

Yes, indeed: I do believe that money allocated to a charter school is less meaningful than that directed towards a public school.

Yes, it is. And it begs the greater question as to whether charter schools should be funded at all by taxpayer dollars. A charter school is not a public school: they (can) operate under vastly different guidelines. They are not subject to school boards and certain governmental regulations. And are often funded by a

Often what girls need flies under the radar because they’ve been taught how they have to present, though. They’ve been told to shut up and sit down, and been taught how that will be their key to future success as well.

The problem is it depends how you measure “at risk.” I think the ways in which girls—especially girls of color—are at risk tend to be ignored.

“...DCPS officials held a meeting with over 100 girls of color, and they did not hear that they wanted an all-girls school. Instead, they wanted some kind of space or club to learn skills and to talk about their days.”

Don’t most studies show that girls benefit more from sex-segregated schools then boys do? *wanders off to find source*

This is so infuriating. A friend of mine who works in prison reform describes exactly the same dynamic in prisons: resources, libraries, classes, etc. — the vast, vast majority of funds go to male prisons whereas the women are left totally dry. I do not understand one iota how this is acceptable nor how we countenance

Long overdue. I’ve never understood how constitutional protections for citizens stop at the border.

Those morons have an average IQ hovering around about 90. They don’t know much of anything.

Two senior intelligence officers told NBC that the more aggressive tactics of the last two years are a result of a string of domestic incidents in 2015 and 2016 in which the watch list system and the FBI failed to stop American citizens from conducting attacks.
