That was VW’s thinking with the classic Beetle.

Don’t want to pay for maintenance? Get an EV.
Get out. I DEMAND a skyward sword/twilight princess/wind waker HD release on switch, as well as remakes of Oracle and Minish Cap in the style of Link’s Awakening (2019). Then we can talk Metroid.
my dude, if you didn’t realize that there are outfits which repurpose old lithium batteries and recycle those that don’t work, maybe do a little research.
Ooooh, that one had the miracle 100 mpg carburetor on it, right?
My dude, refilling while you sleep is incredibly more convenient than having to find a gas station and sitting at a pump once a week.
When I was young I lusted over a pre-’68 GTO. I finally bought one about a decade ago and realized just how BIG the GM A-bodies are. Give me a pre-’68 Nova over an A-body any day.
Yeah, and Harley sells more pleather jackets than motorcycles.
I did not realize that. When did they switch? I knew that Nissan ditched their AESC joint venture for CATL a couple years ago, but didn’t realize BMW went that route.
I’m an enthusiast and I would never consider a Type R. At the end of the day, you’re spending $40k on a Civic. You can pretend they’re driver’s cars, but the reality is they retuned the chassis and put go-fast parts onto a basic appliance, which is exactly what you’re railing against.
So I here they’re using older i3 architecture. Are they using older 94 Ah Samsung cells, or did they elect to go with the newer 120's which have the same form factor? I would sincerely hope for the latter, though the MSRP suggests they used the older, smaller cells for reasons of cost.
ooph
I’ll just save you the click:
Not at all. Honda could easily retune the motor controller to allow for higher performance - I highly doubt they’re testing the limits of the motor on the base model. It might come at a range penalty, but then again it could also allow a selectable ludicrous mode to be used only when wanted.
The easiest way to unlock more power is through software. The motor controller is what dictates power maps, just like a modern engine ECU. You’ll see high performance shops crack manufacturer code in a few years and turn your standard Leaf into a drag racing monster.
Literally everything you said applies to ICE cars just the same. The means of locomotion isn’t the only benchmark for performance.
And it was rolled into Lee-Jackson-King day in Virginia until 2000. Lee-Jackson was subsequently spun off into the preceding Friday, so many Virginians get a 4-day weekend. Talk about spitting a big ol’ hunk o’tobacco in the face of equality.
ah, so about the same as a dry Honda Civic
yeah I should preface all of my posts defending lower-range EVs with “I’d 100% buy one of these coming off of a 3-year lease at $10-14k.”
