It would be great if people would stop using phrases like “reactionary culture war.”

Not only was 12 Monkeys better than it had any right to be, and Emily Hampshire needs to be in more things, but it stuck that series finales way better than like 99.44% of all other television shows.

Definitely, loved 12 Monkeys

I presume that it’s based around Gandalf’s mention of having hunted Gollum around Mirkwood, with Aragorn, during his plot-exposition-dump to Frodo in Fellowship. Those couple of sentences seem like a pretty thin reed on which to hang an entire film, unless there’s more in Tolkien’s writings that I’m missing.

Related: I found out recently how Cyclops controls his optic blasts while sleeping (when not using his regular visor) and it is adorable.

I’ve been rewatching the OG series in prep for this and season 1 and 2 go hard on the thinly veiled allegories for what the modern day idiots would call the “woke agenda.” Very X-Men at its core.

I love that they had the bad guys pull a January 6th. What an amazing Pre-fuck you to the anti woke critics.

Yeah she’s too dumb to realize she’s not going to win in a star-power fight with Pedro Fucking Pascal.

The “boop/beep” thing was a direct insult to Pedro Pascal, after he put pronouns in his bio as a show of support for his trans sister. Publicly attacking the star of the hugely successful show you somehow landed a part on is exactly the kind of stupid-as-shit career move that leads directly to working for Ben Shapiro.

Which isn’t even getting to the biggest part yet: the actual star of the show she appeared in has become a superstar over the course of it, famously has a trans sister whom he truly loves and supports in every way, and presumably told their bosses: “shut her up or get her the fuck off my show.”  And, not being idiots,

Anyone complaining about the movies of comic book characters being “woke” likely missed the original message of the characters. X-Men being one of the most famous examples. They existed as a social commentary on bigotry and politics from day one.

If having women, people of diverse gender identities/ sexual preferences, and ethnic / racial /religious minorities in film and TV is “political” or NOT “family friendly”, the problem isn’t Disney. It’s you.

Not sure I agree with your Newsmax police work given the biggest box office hit of 2023 (to shake your snowflake brain, this is a transgender Barbie):

I can confirm that. Marvel paid me just fine and on time. They paid peanuts of course, but they paid and I got my check with Spiderman on it.

Pretty much everything about Nimona was superior animation. The writing, the voice acting, the artistry, the rapid world development ... it just outstrips any current (non-Ghibli) contender. (and this from a pretty jaded sour ol’ critic)

Echo also had very low numbers.

You’re correct. He’s outgrown the show, and SNL needs him more than he needs SNL. I agree with your sincere statement.

I’d say the biggest difference between the Rabid and Sad Puppies is that the latter are still writing SF, while the former have given up on the genre entirely and have tried to reinvent themselves as far-right influencers, because they realized they’d never make any money at it. The Sads, I think, are still hanging on

I’ve not been paying more than very tangential attention to the internal politics of the Hugos since I stopped buying supporting membership a few years before the Sad/Rabid Puppies era (and by the way, it’s still a bit sloppy to not distinguish between the two.) Back then, it wasn’t too hard to see the storm on the

First, absolutely thank you for the questions you put forth about this.
