100% right. We had a TDI for a while, and it was not a good sounding engine.

That demand is outstripping supply does not mean overall demand is large. It can just mean supply is tiny.

For sure, went to the Macan as its the gold standard of fun CUVs.

I’d be shocked if BMW is selling more M3s than X3Ms.

Lol there are plenty of performance vehicles without LSD.  Some of us bought the Rav4 prime at MSRP.  Some didn’t.

This looks really good. Possibly the best new Dodge since the return of the Challenger. But doesn’t it highlight that the Tonale is overpriced with a starting MSRP of $39K? No amount of Alcantara can hide that the Tonale and Hornet are variations of the same car.

Now playing

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the 1978-1985 Oldsmobile 350 Diesel.

I very much doubt your modified Tiguan is as fun as a stock, purpose built performance sedan from the factory.

Upmarket, sure. A lot of performance CUV versions are sold. But enthusiasts don’t buy AMG GLCs, Porsche Macans, or Audi RS Q8s, or BMW X3 Ms. That’s what rich dentists and plastic surgeons buy their wives and mistresses. Enthusiasts would buy the car versions instead.

In a few years it will be eligible for LeMons

but it could be a case similar to the Toyobaru twins

He is dead wrong.

Would one photo of a dot have been too much to ask?

Multipronged approach

“Spicer says he doesn’t believe the people that participate in this kind of thing are bad people.”

What has the world come to that 190 bhp in a small car is “adequate”? I grew up with 80s and 90s cars where 120 bhp was sporty because the cars only weighed 2000 lbs. It seems that even Mazda can't stave off the weight gain. and a Mazda3's curb weight is over 3000 lbs now, necessitating IROC Z levels of horsepower.

I wonder how much power under the curve is being made with the new update? The 5HP bump doesn’t sound like much, but it could be a case similar to the Toyobaru twins where the power under the curve is much improved.

It’s supposedly only 4 cm (1.5 inches) taller than the Peugeot 308 it is based on, which is a competitor to cars like the Golf, Corolla and Focus. It has a much longer wheelbase though, and is even longer than the 308 wagon. It is still shorter than the midsize 508.

Counterpoint: Toyota will sell you a faster car for more money with two doors. Can even get a manual now.

This makes me think that the number we should spend our days arguing about is not horsepower, but power to weight ratio.
