This. Most of the nurses in my city are black and brown women. I know I shouldn’t be surprised at something like this, but it’s kind of jarring to read.

Yeah, it almost sounds a little like a dog whistle. I’ve met a lot of racists who will bend over backwards to avoid saying “black people” and then make a big deal about how “PC” they’re being.
Ah, that’s true. I actually grew up around a lot of Christian Scientists who refused to let their kids see doctors. I think my brain just desperately wants to forget that that’s a thing.
Those all sound like drag names tbh.
Yeah, this is so absurd that I kind of want to laugh more than yell. Like, I’m Middle Eastern and I would be SUPER uncomfortable if some white nurse stared intensely into my eyes and shouted at me.
Jesus that’s both awful and some weirdly specific stereotyping.
Literally the only people I have ever met that don’t trust doctors are white hippies of the Goop variety.
Same here. This might just be my bias, but I always worry that women without female friends are still in that “not like other girls” phase.
Yeah, and it’s so disheartening, especially because spaces for queer women have been sort of wiped out. I love drag and I’m around both queens and kings a lot and there’s just crazy levels of vitriol directed towards women by some gay dudes.
Yeah, I think it’s really interesting how varied gender presentation/expression is. I think it would actually be cool for drag race to explore that more than focusing so much on the high-femme side.
Not necessarily. I’m friends with a handful of trans guys who perform as drag kings. I think a lot of people use drag as a way to navigate their gender identity.
This is definitely a factor, but I also think drag kings and drag queens tend to perform really differently. Most of the drag kings I’ve seen live play on machismo in an overtly sexual way. Not that drag queens aren’t like, delightfully lewd sometimes, but you don’t see a ton of that on RPDR.
Yeah, I agree. I think Ru is a tiny bit more open to genderfuck drag and stuff, but Michelle has always struck me as overvaluing femininity.
Yeah, I really don’t like the implication that wives are responsible for managing their husbands’ health. I mean, there’s a difference between being supportive and having to mother your partner.
This this this. I don’t particularly like Kat or Kylie or random internet celebrities who collab with makeup companies. Good makeup is just good makeup.
Same. Her lipstick actually stays on my lips when I eat/drink. I’ve only found one other formula that does that and still manages to look good.
Jesus, what is it with passive aggressive noise-sensitive neighbors? My complex let my shitty neighbor break her lease 6 months early without any penalty cause they wanted her out so badly
Lol omg my old neighbor said basically the same thing. She even complained about the people cleaning the apartment out before I moved in. I was like “oh I’m super boring, all I do is read and play with my cat. It’ll be fine!”
Omg did we have the same neighbor?? Because my old downstairs neighbor constantly complained about me walking around and dropping things.
That’s the worst. I had a similar nightmare neighbor. One night, my phone fell off my nightstand when I was asleep and she banged on the ceiling with a broom. The next day she filed a complaint saying I was throwing things around my apartment at 3 AM.
