As an MIT alumna, I agree the prestige is a lot of the price, but in this shit-balls economy, prestige is basically the only thing that got some of us jobs.

Nope. Honey is basically standard sugars. Nothing special about it. 60 calories/tablespoon. Splenda? None IF you use the liquid kind. (The powder is bullshit and contains small amounts of starch that add up en masse.)

Diet Soda has no calories, and good nutrition folks know that people need them as crutches sometimes.

Depends on your area. I grew up in conservative Georgia, and the one thing they *were* liberal on was feminism. Lots of teachings about Ruth, Esther, etc., with the statements of “women are independent and can astound people on their own thank you.” And my mom worked just as hard as my dad.

So true. I used to snicker at grass fed etc. animal meat, but damn if grass-fed cows aren’t CRAZY DELICIOUS. So hell, even if I didn’t support good treatment of animals for their sake, I’d sure do it for mine on the dinner plate.

I’m not trying to be a dick; I genuinely don’t know: what are we supposed to use? It sounds like a pretty sterilized term compared to...well, anything I’ve otherwise heard for it.

I was going to facepalm at the idea of dolls made to fit people whose conditions are very very different from each other usually, but then I saw that it’s a custom Build a Bear style thing and suddenly it became the best thing ever. I don’t know, but even the clothes I got off the rack for high school prom strike me as too elaborate to destroy. Destroying a five buck T-shirt with a silly logo on it is one thing; these days, like anyone in their basement can make one of those on cafepress. But a gorgeous evening gown? It’s a tragedy. :(
