With an NFL- promoted soundtrack of shitty country music for a league that is 80% African American.

So true. The way those Indy fans booed him was truly disgusting.
I think Drew’s point was that he chose to leave the NFL in what should have been the prime of his career to pursue other, non-football interests. He didn’t keep football as the #1 thing in his life, the way the powers that be want players to do.
If there was a young man in literally any other profession who made $100 million before he was 30 and decided to retire, he would be lauded. The Wall Street Journal would write thousands of words of wankery praising his acumen and smarts and god bless America.
The fact that the NFL has made itself into a weekly orgy of vaguely fashy American nationalism can only hurt the popularity of the sport outside the US.
Very true. My uncle was a notary public. That career is no joke.
What it really tells you is that when you come to football purely for love of the game (i.e., especially if you come from an upbringing of privilege) and make a relatively huge amount of money in your early career, it doesn’t matter how good you might have been or how much more money you probably stood to earn, it’s…
In my opinion, we can never express our thanks loudly or often enough for the heroic actions of all the notaries who have sacrificed everything for this country.
My sense is the current generation of football players is a generation that started playing football when the long term risks were less well understood, but has now essentially chosen a profession, and succeeded at it, that has turned out to be more risky than they thought. It is not surprising that a notable number…
notaries are fucking hardcore, mate
I hope that NFL players take note of the lack of empathy people have shown Andrew Luck during this entire process. Don’t feel guilty about hold-outs for more money. Get as much money as you can and get the hell out before it becomes a detriment to your health.
I mean, I’m sure they *like* notaries. They fill an important role during the signing of contracts and the like. But I think that liking falls a like short of “hard on.”
Andrew Luck’s retirement will only increase the primal urgency of Football Men to find True Football Believers to play football, so that they don’t ever question their faith in it.
It’s no wonder the NFL has such a hard-on for the notary. The model is in some ways very much the same; many of you will die young, and don’t you dare turn your back.
Dear God, you must live a small life.
Wait, your actual complaint is that you have to play as a woman?
Please tell me how concerned you are about ethics in gaming journalism.
I wonder how well the Seattle Cobains could run a shotgun formation
Seattle Dragons? So many great regional possibilities for name (Sasquatcheses, Cobains, Amazonians, SanFranWannabees) but no, let’s go with generic “Dragons.”
The Houston XFL franchise already has better branding than the Texans, and they’ve existed for all of like *checks watch*... 45 minutes.
