Creating the most reliable Chevy ever.
Creating the most reliable Chevy ever.
I honestly do not understand what y’all are on about here. I came to own a CVT after a lifetime of manuals and it’s been absolutely fine. It does everything I want it to do and I get decent gas mileage. It does what it’s supposed to do.
CVT, in and of itself, isn’t bad. Crappy ones are bad. But a crappy anything is bad...
CVT transmissions are perfectly adequate for most cars out there and 95% of drivers. Most people couldn’t tell you anything about their transmission beyond “automatic” and have no idea what type of transmission they have, much less how many gears it has (the exception may be people who dealt with the Ford dual clutch…
You don’t want a crappy CVT. There is a difference.
Had one in our Mercury Montego followed by our Ford Freestyle for a combined 200K miles. Great transmission for those cars. Smooth with a nice transition off idle. Both were AWD and paired with the CVT were fantastic in the snow.
Yeah, the hate the Maxima gets is weird. It’s slightly faster than the old V6 Accords, and people here gush over how fast those were. It also handles a lot better than the old V6 Accord.
I have had the current gen as a rental a few times and it is a very nice car. The first time I got one I was surprised how peppy it was and the CVT was actually quite nice.
Yeah, 2008 from a German company called “SkySails.” Same old thing, 13 years later.
right??!! also why isn’t this A$$ hat using a more fuel efficient car, and don’t get me started on how this is NOT Joe’s fault. Hello supply/demand?
I’m not quite out in the sticks, but I see more trees than anything out my window. It would normally be pretty quiet with the window open, aside from the incessant mass of crickets. But once it warms up, come midnight you can heard straight piped sport bikes out there ripping through the revs probably well over a…
One of our local fuckwits has been annoying the shit out of everyone this summer with his crackle exhaust-equipped 350Z. I noticed he hasn’t been heard from lately, and I was recently told Captain Dumbfuck wrapped said Z around a tree. So, everybody, go plant a tree for a quieter neighborhood.
Don’t pretend to be this stupid - you know exactly what we’re discussing here. Cars, trucks, bikes, whatever that run nearly unmuffled with the idiots at the helm aiming specifically to be loud for loudness’ sake.
new hampshire has a very simple and effective law for this for off road vehicles (dirtbikes, quads etc) - you are not allowed to modify the stock exhaust at all.
I live in Brooklyn, so I definitely understand the quality-of-life issues that come with overly loud cars. I can’t say I’ve ever seen people duck and cover from a pop-and-bang tune, but I believe you that it’s probably happened.
As for tunes, the law doesn’t cover those at all. It only talks hardware; if you can…
Article makes poor premises trying to support a even weaker conclusion.
Exactly - feels like half the pops and bangs you hear are from E90 3 series BMWs, courtesy of exhaust systems that cost thousands to order and install. It’s not like people are buying their tunes on food stamps.
“Of course, we all know that keeping the streets nice and serene likely isn’t the real intent of the bill. Traffic stops are often more about revenue than safety, and increasing fines from three digits to four ought to net the state some nice cash flow. With these stops disproportionately affecting low-income drivers,…
The sales and install side is the important factor here. Stop the sale of loud cars and stop the install of equipment that makes them loud and that cuts down on a huge part of the problem. Regulators will be looking more at aftermarket installers than end-users, likely.
Same.
