For my part: it’s entirely on purpose, while being so over the top as to being deniable (Poe’s law).

My reactions for leap of faiths were drilled into me by the Souls series.

Sometimes the bad quality is a perk and of itself.

Maybe it’s because some languages are more volubile than others. Thus giving more leeway for translation into the more succint languages.

I’m a french canadian, and I’m always a “little” peeved when movies or series from Québec are RE-DUBBED in international french, because most people from the Hexagon don’t like our accent (like: they can perfectly understand the gist of it. Only a few select expressions can be cause for befuddlement).

If that’s the case you are going for (fantasy system for immersion), why not go ham like Harry Potter and invent a whimsical and totally contrived system (monetary in this case) for fantasy points, instead to butcher an (already) contrived system even more?
