Seconded. Nintendo has a good track records of launching consoles with games that make immediate use of the consoles peculiars (because Nintendo obviously can’t launch a console without some sort of gimmick to differenciate itself).

While I perfectly understand the need to create a common social ground for a big group like this, why use Facebook when it’s increasingly clear that moderation of groups is becoming increasingly fraught?

Indeed they would. They often have in the past change a lot of things regarding layer feedback, and even have dev/players meet-and-greet on a yearly basis for feedback and overall direction. I’m absolutely sure that if harassment was brought up, they would have acted. Pretty sure it happened in the past too.

As a former E.V.E Online player, the incredible amount of personal time invested role-playing a leader of a large faction (and ALL the internal politics and spy-vs-spy stuff it implies) is mind-boggling.
