Nope. So long as the knock sensor is happy, the ignition system (spark plugs) do their thing like normal and ignite whatever gas is in the cylinder.

Knock sensing on most cars is binary: either detonation occurs and your check engine light comes on, or compression occurs without incident and your car does its normal
