I don’t think the horsepower wars have much of anything to do with driving fatality rates staying steady. 75 mph is 75 mph, regardless of whether you have 80 hp or 800. People crash and die at perfectly normal speeds not because cars are faster, but because they are distracted or driving when they shouldn’t be (bad

Isn't the Supra supposed to be more of a GT than a sports car? Not exactly apples-to-apples.

And this is why you get pre-approved outside financing before you walk in the door. I’d have thought the Jalopnik staff would know this, given all of Tom’s articles discussing the matter. Your local credit union is going to be much easier and cheaper to work with than the dealer, anyway.

I am dubious about the subscription, too. As for benefits, I think the battery warranty/replacement is fairly significant. I do think that you should have to opt in for that, and that it should apply for the first few years without the monthly fee just like any extended warranty.

That's the rub, isn't it? If nobody takes the risk and buys, there won't be any staying power. I'm not about to go spend my money on one, but I hope enough people who can afford to take that big of a bet are willing to give them a shot.

Easily the best mushroom dish I’ve ever tasted (and probably the best meal I’ve ever had) was the Maitake at Zahav in Philadelphia. If I remember correctly, I think they said that they smoked it, put it in a 24 hour marinade that included their house-made shoyu among other things, then roasted it in their wood-fired

Luxury vinyl flooring is very popular because it looks nice and holds up to more abuse than wood with less maintenance. Even now, I don't think it'd cost $1000 to do your average living room.

Is the concrete wall to wall? Because if it’s in good shape, a seal and polish would make for a nice little statement piece. My apartment building has polished concrete floors on the first level, and I absolutely love mine. Definitely would add a touch of modernity.

This is a good pick. I really don’t think any car is objectively too long if the proportions work aesthetically. If the added length provides utility you need (i.e. a third row adults can use, or added cargo space), then it’s justified.

I cannot understand for the life of me why GM didn’t use the Ampera design for the Volt. It looks SO much cooler, and I think the Volt would have been more successful if they had. And it’s not like it would have cost a bunch more since it’s the same car underneath.

Sounds exactly like the place I'm moving out of. Most decent sized cities have these types of complexes going up constantly.

That's not a new thing. You've had to do that in most cars for decades now.

If you are really dedicated to having better sound, you CAN do it while integrating the stock head unit. Sure, it’s going to cost you more than older cars where you can just pop down to best buy and get a single-din deck and a dash kit, but it can be done. Some of the stock units even have optical outputs, which makes

AutoAnything sells ProZ branded pre-formed mats. They had a set for my 2002 Montero Sport I just picked up. WeatherTech only had generic cut-to-fit ones.

Yes, but they thanked us by letting us buy a bunch of $70k trucks.

I think that photo is a concept that later became the Volt/Ampera?

The Altima was a decent car, and the coupe was even good looking. Don’t blame cars for their drivers.

While there are certainly valid criticisms for this piece (mainly, quoting sometimes else's story for 2/3 of the post), I don't see how this is click bait. It's a legitimate story, albeit one that is poorly reported.
