People often say SNL hasn’t been good for a long time, but I would argue that, except for maybe a few seasons in the Phil Hartman era (that seems as good a way to describe it as any, especially given how brilliant he was), it’s really never been that good. I think we have kind of a nostalgic view of past SNL seasons…
