Yep. This is a pet peeve of mine (along with people talking about crossing the plane w/r/t catches). To be down in the field of play or to have “crossed the plane,” a player must have first established possession more broadly.

By the aforementioned logic, shouldn’t you be disappointed that these soccer players would apparently rather be speed skating?
You’re ignoring the association with the academic institution, which is the biggest part. You have built-fanbases with students and an alumni base. Also in-state folks. While this is common with any team (they have to be located somewhere), the plurality (and often majority) of the roster will be from the state as…
Scripting last minute hail marys would be really really really really hard to pull off.
Yea, it’s a couple of guys that ATL might be able to re-flip at the deadline to a contender.
Also, the costs associated with this case on MSU’s side aren’t primarily funded by taxpayers per se, since only about 20% of state school revenue comes from the state these days. It’s primarily coming from tuition payers.
I honestly don’t know enough about the situation, but with respect to what it could be... If he truly was the best at his given medical discipline, it’s possible that his presence at the university is what attracted the olympic-level athletes/athletic program. With that may have been money for facilities, programs,…
There’s plenty to criticize the university over in their handling of this, but the legal budget thing seems like a cheap shot.
In its signature dictatorship[REDACTED] authoritarian preference of democratic governing style, the Trump administration has reportedly banned the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from using seven words in their budget documents.
Still sitting in the first sentence of the fourth paragraph, immediately below the first picture:
Yea, the TVTropes website got out of hand fast. At this point it seems like having a narrator or an opening shot is a “trope.”
And cheese/yogurt?
This is where the film really does seem like the spiritual successor to ESB. One of the great things about ESB was that the good guys didn’t win.
Ha, I’m actually laughing out loud at the idea of “IT [BEING A] TRAP” for someone else.
The timeline is a very fair criticism. I also am not sure if they said it was a nearby world or anything to that.
Yea, it’s odd. I feel like we should expect the crazy level of detail to some degree as a part of the arrangement (paying to see a film). Like,if a big studio (or even indie) Great Depression period piece clearly has Ikea furniture in a home set, you’d feel like they mailed things in. I’m not saying we should feel…
In addition to the reasons you mentioned, there is storytelling history of the stableboy/farmhand character being an unlikely hero (much like Luke). It conjures an association in the audience’s minds that isn’t there with busboys, janitors, etc. It’s not the only possibility, but it makes sense from a narrative…
Makes me think of those guys in that dropsheet tent for 2-3 years during the Lord of the Rings filming, who spent 10+ hours a day that whole time supergluing plastic rings together to make chainmail that’d look real on film.
I wouldn’t be shocked to see a spin-off movie that uses that locale either. It could be very interesting for a story with a slightly different mood/feel.
I was thinking it might be part of a spin-off movie, but it featuring into IX is possibly more logical.
