I agree to an extent. It certainly feels like the further from the Jedi you get, the better the output is. Andor/Rogue One are probably my favorite SW material full stop - I love the grimy scrappiness of it all.

On the 3/NV debate, there’s also a tonal shift that factors in. I know different people who’ve bounced off each for different reasons relating to tone.

Fundamentally, 3 is much more about the past - uncovering the secrets of the ruins to help people survive. As such it can feel quite bleak and desperate, but revels in

The main quest is notoriously short - but that’s not why you play a Fallout. Soak yourself in the atmosphere and savor the wondrous, abominable crannies and there’s so much to explore and discover.

GARYY!!!

Fantastic read, thank you so much.

The fate of S&B was always. But seriously, given how prone the games industry is to ‘thing is popular > make more of thing’, its astounding that no-one has really managed to match Black Flag. It is almost universally lauded as being great. Just make that only bigger. Gah!  *creates Change.org petition to get Sid Meier

This is an important case with serious implications for the rule of law, and it will not end here. If left unchallenged, this would set a dangerous precedent and give license to states to weaponize their official powers to punish the expression of political viewpoints they disagree with. We are determined to press

I know it’s technically Chinese, but Genshin is similar.  I’ve tried to show it to other people and it actually puts them off how bad it is.  Like being hit round the head with a strobe light.

Except sadly they don’t for the Switch... Pokemon Scarlet/Violet felt held together with duct tape.

I’ve long felt that basically, Genshin Impact is the Pokemon game I’ve always wanted, and it could provide a really strong footprint for the series going forward.

Obvious caveat - without the gacha, which even at best is pretty unseemly and skeevy if not outright predatory. But otherwise? A free, truly open world to

You know what’s a shame? I watched it last night and it’s an absolute blast. Definitelt not among best but was really supremely fun, Iman Vellami is a fucking delight, and it includes what might seriously end up being my all time favorite sequence of the whole MCU

Any news on DLSS? That thing is sheer sorcery that allows my mediocre PC to punch waaay above its weight, and would be a literal game changer in the Witcher

Oh man, I ADORE the bonkers modern stuff in AC, your description of the nonsense as glue is so spot on.

I’d add to the ACIII pros column “Not shying away from the founders being dickbags to Native Americans”. The initial trailers were all very “Boo redcoats!” and could have be obnoxiously jingoistic. It could have been so very easy to dodge all, as Ubisoft has since proved with its tepid narratives around the Far Cry gam

I’ve always felt like the show isn’t as clever as it thinks it is. I’m just watching through S1 with newcomers, and I pretty much told them - if you treat it as seriously as its wants you to, it’s pretentious wank. If you treat it a glossy, bonkers, well-produced show about crazy cowboy robots, it’s great fun. Those

Rockstar went downhill fast after the Housers left.

Awkward! I have wondered how this war will affect games based on war for a while - what seemed like fantasy has become worryingly real. It’s why my friends and I stopped playing BF2042 - it’s suddenly suuuper awkward to hear Russian troops chatting about military operations.

Predatory as that side of things is, I cannot stress enough how little it impacts the game if you don’t want it to.  I haven’t paid a dime in two years and still have a great roster.  If you’re impatient/have an addictive personality it’s best to steer clear, but otherwise its a phenomenal game, not to mention free.

Even worse with the EA app - it doesn’t play nice with Origin. I have BF2042 through Steam and FIFA22 through GamePass, and have to close one and boot t’other when I deign to play a different game. There’s a special place in hell for whoever designed that system.

It’s a shame this looks so tough, good and fun martial arts games are a surprising niche in games.
