How is having a PhD a requirement for being a scientist? It’s more that his degree is in mechanical engineering, which is still a Bachelor’s of Science degree, and as far as I am aware hasn’t worked as a researcher, which I guess technically qualifies one as a scientist, but you’re really just splitting hairs here.

Theres a lot history between the two.  Hank Williams is often considered a key forerunner to rock, the Carter Family as well.  Elvis's first big hit song was a cover of Bill Monroes Blue Moon of Kentucky.  Johnny Cash kinda did it all genre wise.  Its complicated. 

While I agree with you that rocking has not been a necessary requirement to date, Dolly wields huge influence, and perhaps she is of a similar view that it should be.
