They essentially stripped all exploration elements away and replaced them with more dungeon puzzles. I play Zelda to explore the world, so this wasn’t my jam. Some of the dungeons were neat though.

Counterpoint: Skyward Sword was bad.
I can’t believe Ari didn’t include a pic of the Transistor tattoo. I feel cheated somehow.
I *love* 3D platformers, and there are so few of them. This looks right up my alley. So I may pick it up.
A movie about this could be good. Paging Aaron Sorkin.
Well, yeah. I meant I hope it isn’t the start of a trend for Ghibli. I don’t want them to go the way of Disney.
Well, this movie looks like a good time. But I hope this isn’t the start of a trend...
This is fascinating. OoT is one of the best and most important games of all time, and it’s amazing to be able to see it in an early form. It’s like going back in time to watch the Pyramids under construction.
Has to be Mario (any 3D one.) Just lovely. As for 2D... no mention of Super Meat Boy?! That game gives you more air control and speed than just about anything, and once you get the hang of it, it feels godly.
I love the idea of a pitch-black horror game relying on the controller, and sound of course, for feedback. That would be a unique experience, if done well, it would be just as accessible to the blind as it would be to anyone else! Not sure if somebody has done this already, but probably the PS5 controller would help a…
I feel the same! I’m kinda tired of games with so much killing. I can’t empathize with the main character at all when (s)he’s just killed dozens and dozens of dudes without any qualms. I do appreciate games like Spider-Man where you can’t kill anyone (although realistically you’re just giving them all concussions and…
I don’t really care about where you put your PS5, but I do want more shots of all y’alls cats.
For authenticity, I hope they gave it a truly terrible translation.
It’s a very special game. Even aside from its gameplay elements, I just love inhabiting that world. There’s a mix of childlike joy and real gravitas to the story. Hyrule doesn’t have a fleshed-out history like, say, Skyrim, but it has elements that make it feel like a real place - like all the leftover symbols of…
Not sure what I think about this art style. I think it’s trying to look like medieval art, but real medieval art is rougher and more interesting. Also the music is kinda bland.
In the remake when you get to the end you restart at the top instantly. The level is short enough that you have time for two full runs, so this isn’t a problem anymore.
Couldn’t disagree more! Just played this and I think it’s my favorite level from THPS1. So much momentum, and a lot of huge jumps. And I think the linearity is a nice break from the more free-flowing stages.
This looks extremely fun.
I never had any desire to be evil in games, really. It always seemed silly to me to choose between good and evil. People (well, most people) don’t do this. They think they’re doing good, or at least they’re trying to do good. It’s more interesting when games present a genuine moral dilemma.
What’s with the shooty guy? I always liked that in the Arkham games you couldn’t kill people. Obviously that was stretched with, you know, blowing them up and whatnot, but I like the conceit.
